Passports or Birth Cert.'s???

I also found it MUCH easer to use my drivers licenses as photo id to board the ship... just because it fits nicely in the waterproof pouches...where a passport would not. While going to the beaches and such at the ports who wants to tote along a purse or wallet that's not waterproof ??..one of the waterproof container that hang around your neck...work wonderfully...their just big enough to fit the KTTW card, a DL, credit card and a little cash for a taxi or such....of course you could always get the XL ones to fit your passport...but myself i'd rather loose my DL than a passport.

Exactly. The passport doesn't replace your D/L or other photo id for going ashore in your ports of call. THe passport is just for your initial boarding of the cruise. Your KTTW card and photo ID will fit in a "normal" DCL lanyard (two card fit in the clear plastic sleeve nicely". FOr going off of the ship the KTTW cards Photo ID Credit Cards and some cash fit very nicely in the "cigarrette pack" size DCL water tight container/lanyard.

A BC is good forever...and what in the world would you be doing with it once on board...that would make you loose it in the middle of the cruise??? Lock it up in the stateroom safe with all your other items...Just like you sould do with your passport and other id, credit cards or cash.

Not to mention once again you need that BC to get your passport with in the first place. If it's just for the cruise...cost wise save the money and spend it on an excursion...there is no need to spend the additional $$$ for the passports. Passport fees are $85 for adults plus the fee for getting your BC which can be anywhere from $10-25...depending on where you get it from...ie your local office or vital check on the web. So when your looking a diffrence of $100+ or $10-25...thats a big amount.

Of course I totaly agree if your ever thinking or planning on doing international travel...you might as well go for the passports now and not wait..but if it's just for id and cruising.. don't worrie about it. Save the $$$ and spend it on board or at one of the shores.
