passports for ID

Does anyone know if photocopies of passports are acceptable ID when buying drinks? I don't like carrying it around and I'm always asked. I have a photo driving licence but it's only provisional, would this be an acceptable alternative? Thanks

I don't think a copy will be accepted. It is not a legal ID.

You should be able to use your photo license, provisional or not. Remember, your identity isn't provisional, just your privelege to drive.

I would check on the license. I had a friend stopped because her license had expired and she didn't realize it. She was still the same person pictured on the license but they wouldn't accept it.
