Passporter--security warning???

I just got an EMail from Passporter saying my yahoo groups account was going to be stopped due to improper using--there was an attachment to open if I wanted more details--and if I wanted to continue using it I would have to "resign" my information. It looked pretty bogus except for the legitimate "jenniferanddave@passporter com" in the "from" section. Was their site hijacked? I did NOT open the attachment and did NOT "resign" my information because it looked pretty suspicious, and sent an EMail back to Jennifer and Dave asking about it instead. Anyone else get this?

I got it too, I thought it was a bit strange because we do not have an e-mail account with yahoo. I deleted it, and now I am going back to permanently delate it.

This happened last year with cruisecritic.com also. Someone hacked into their e-mail list and sent out bogus, virus filled e-mails.

I'm sure you'll here from Dave as soon as they get it straightened out. You did the right thing e-mailing them.

I got something similar today at my work email acct (from the "technology dpt" at work.) Deleted it.

this isn't just Passporter. It is coming from everywhere. Several of the companies I service were getting these from "managment" or "administration"

It's a new virus. It's called bagel something or another. It spoofs the name of a domain and makes it look like it's coming from that domain's IT department.

I got a similar one from Paypal. I forwarded it on to them. They are looking into it.

It's actually going to get worse.. there are 3 big virus's out there, Bagel (also known as beagle), netsky and mydoom. They are kind of "fighting it out". If you were to examine the code in one of these virus's you would find they are actually embedding insults to one another!! Apperantly they all want the most publicity.

Can you believe how much time they spend making these things?

Just think, if we could get them hooked on the DIS they wouldn't have time to do such things.

I, for one, am getting pretty fed up with all these virus crap out there..I must get one of these things a day!

I never open anything that has attachments but this is just a pain!
Don't people have a life other than making people's computers crack up...hey guys..time to move out of your mom's basement and get a girlfriend!

I didn't get anything but whenever I get an e-mail from someone I don't know, I delete it without opening it.
