PassPorter or Unofficial Guide?

Does anyone recommend either of these books? I borrowed some guidebooks from the library but they're all 2003 versions so I wanted to get a new one. Is it worth the money?

Well, I am using passporter for my WDW trip in August and I have to say its fun to fill out the pages and the pockets with all the stuff we are going to do. HOWEVER, not sure if I would do it again. I also have the Unofficial Guide. Thats a LOT OF INFORMATION. It depends on the type of planner you are. If you are type A then you may need both like me. But I would go with the passporter for the ability to put things in it that I will use later to scrapbook my trip.

That probably didn't help much but then again, I am still struggling with this planning thing for WDW.

I highly recommend both! Absolutely worth every cent!

If you don't think you'll be up for much planning or writing on the PassPockets at the end of the day in the PassPorter, I'd opt for the Unofficial Guide.

I have the Unofficial Guide, and I must admit the only reason I have it is because I needed something else to occupy me while I waited for my trip.... in all honesty, I didn't "learn" anything from the book I didn't already know from trolling these boards. Just my 2 pennies.

That is EXACTLY what I was trying to say, but it sure was fun to have something else to occupy me. . .lol.

I have to order online so I think I'll get the Unofficial Guide and then see if I can find the other one in stores once I hit the US. They're both quite expensive here.

I'm not sure I'll learn anything but I do like to plan and over-obsess , which I guess is why I'm here

I have both and got the Passporter more to use for remembering the trip then for the information.

I bought the Passporter for the trip because I loved the idea of the organizer but I ended up using the Unofficial Guide and the Birnhams DL (I know I spelled that wrong) the most. I really found the tours in the UG helpful as a guide for me since it was my first time.
Unfortunately my passporter is still basically new-I'll sell it cheap

I'm on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland (right near Australia Zoo - Steve Irwin's crocodile park!). I've lived all over the place though. I grew up mostly in the suburbs of sydney but also lived in Hong Kong for 11 years and the US for 3 years.

I'd skip the Passporter since it was published in May of 2006 with mostly old information. Unless they update it soon, its not worth it in my opinion. I got a lot more relevant information from the most current Unofficial Guide as well as these boards.

According to www.chapters.ca, they are releasing it on April 10th.

In planning last year's trip (our first trip to DL), I borrowed several older books from the library, many of which were very outdated. I liked Birnbaum's for the wonderful pictures and detailed descriptions of shops, restaurants, etc. However, I bought the UG because it had great information on touring strategies and a good rating system for the rides, shows and other attractions.

I have pre-ordered the new Passporters, which is supposed to ship next month. I bought it sight unseen because others have found it useful, though now I'm wondering if I saw an older version of it in the batch from the library...? Ah, well, something new to read.

We are going to DL in early May. I have both books. I was really disappointed by the Unofficial Guide. I felt it was very shallow.

I picked up Passporter about two weeks ago. Much better information. Has maps of DL, DCA, Legoland, Knotts. Much better travel tips. Provided a website on driving tips in CA. Another example. Join the ESPN club to receive a free gaming card. Did not find any of this in the Unofficial Guide.

I do like the Unofficial Guide to WDW.

That's awesome! I hope to visit Sydney one day, then maybe go down the Gold Coast.

I found the Passporter really helpful at WDW for keeping everything in one place, etc. Plus it has great maps and info on all the hotels, etc.

BUT at both places the Unofficial Guide is indispensable for the tour guides in the back. At Disneyland, you probably don't need the Passporter. There just isn't as much to organize and the U.G.'s back pages with the tour guides can be easily torn out and taken with you.
