I am thinking about getting one. I have been several times and am very familiar with Disney World. Would this be an unnecessary purchase for me? Are there different ones and how much are they? Where is the best place to purchase?

I know Disney like the back of my hand at this point, but always get the UG and Passporter a few months before I go. I enjoy reading them to get me psyched. Its probably not necessary but they are fun and helpful.

You may get one discounted at Amazon

I love my passporter.
check out the actually website...sometimes they run specials.

I get an annual current one every year (deluxe inserts) since their start back in '99. I have been to WDW many times and still find it of value, a good purchase. The envelope pockets in the back, which I thought would be sort of hokey when I first purchased, turned out to be one of the best, though very simple, ideas of the book, great for staying organized.

I always buy right from Jennifer and Dave's site, using the discount reorder......

Check out their website. Occasionally they offer old ones at a very cheap price. This way you could check it out and decide if you want a new one. I've always enjoyed them.

I ordered my first passporter last yr from there website and when i got it i was not let down. It was the best planning book next to the unofficial guide the part i liked best was the full color pull out maps and the passpockets in the back it was like having my own little trip memory book. I kept all my reciepts in it and notes and look back in it whenever i want to remember the details. Im ordering the 07 passporter this yr as im going back in july but if you buy one you can always buy the refill pages the info in them is up to date and useful with kid tips tween tips and ratings. As for updates every yr its updated and theres specials all the time on there website. There are the passporters for disabled travelers and special needs and the passporter disneyland. All and all i loved this book

I have ordered one every year since 2000 and just placed an order tonight for 2007. As others have said it is a great planning tool and the most updated book every year. Since it is published later in the year they can keep up on changes that don't make it into other guide books until the following year.

I got one once. It has less info than the Unofficial Guide.

It is very peppy and pro-Disney, but not as cute as the Birnbaum one.

I vote, "unnecessary."

I agree about unnecessary. But it was fun and helped me enjoy thinking about the trip.

We've been to WDW 5 times in the last 8 years and we still find the Passporter an invaluable resource. I believe it is the most up to date publication out there, and I think it does a better job than the UG. I am still a user of the UG, but if it was a choice between the two, I like the Passporter better.

For instance, this year I came across a great tip of where to view the Spectromagic parade. While it did get crowded right before the parade, I was able to get a great viewing spot about 25 minutes before the parade start.

I love the passporter as an organizer and memory book. The information is better in the UG, but I am one that really plans and must be organized.

I love how each member of the family gives their different opinion on things, even the toddler! :thumbsup2

I love the Passporter!!It's got maps and good tips and things to think about, even if you are a Disney Veteran. It's not just a guide book, it's a journal and a scrapbook and a keepsake in the end. I always get one every year. They are a collection of my memories of each trip. Worth it to me!!!

Another vote for unnecessary. I purchased it because of all the hype on these boards, and have gotten nothing useful from it. In fact, the 2006 one has a lot of misinformation in it, things that had changed already back in 2005 when we were there were still not updated in the Passporter.

I had previously gotten the Unofficial Guide for each trip. After this trip, I'll go back to that, or else skip a guide altogether (I'm also in the camp of reading them more to get psyched about the trip than to learn anything new). However, for friends with less Disney knowledge, I'll continue to recommend the Unofficial Guide.
