Going to DisneyLand Paris in Feb, but have just realized that my little girls passport expires in April. I wouldn't have thought this a problem but my "Brits guide to Disneyland Paris" says that the passport must be valid for a full 3 months after the date of entry into France. Have called the French embassy in London who said there is no problem as long as the passport is valid for the whole time of the trip. Who is right? Would hate to not be allowed to board the Eurostar, but its cutting it a bit fine to apply for a new passport now!

When I went in December I was told by my travel agent that it had to be valid for three months after travel as mine expires in May. To be sure I'd check with Eurostar and even customs at Waterloo/Ashford as it's there that the passport will be checked. They'll be able to advise on what they will expect at the other end too. I doubt the French embassy would be wrong but it's worth double checking, just for pece of mind.

Welcome to the board - be sure to come back and tell us how your trip went :goodvibes

Hi MorrisMarina and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch so please join in any thread or start you own ones. Plenty here to help you talk about DLP :goodvibes

As Steve says I'd check with your travel people as you would not want to be stopped by an overeager airline/customs member of staff.
Hope you have a great time planning :)
Add you dates onto the "when are you going thread" at the top.

Hello MorrisMarina welcome to the board!

I don't know the answer to your question but there must be a website somewhere that has the answers. Have you tried the Home Office website? I am thinking that there must be a FAQ page somewhere on the web with the facts.

Failing a website you could pop to the Post Office and ask them - they are very helpful with those kind of questions. Above all don't panic! I hope you get it sorted very soon.

If you come from United State and arrive in london i think that it is the Uk autority s that will allow your entrance on the European territory. So see the rules in United Kingdoms. If you come from england you do not need passport... (i think so... ??)

If you come from USA to France yes you have to have a valid passport for the 3 next mounth (officialy) but normally it will be ok for the curent passport... Do not worry about that ;)

Hi MorrisMarina, welcome :wave2: I think that you can renew your passport up to nine months in advance of it expiring? So it might be worth considering doing that? I am sure it will have all the details on the passport site link Reid gave.

Hi Kolash, not sure of the exact rules but I do know we need our passport to come from the UK to France.

Appreciate everybodys help.
I have now solved the problem. Apparently anyone from an EU country can travel as long as they have a "document of travel" (passport) that is valid for the entire trip. Non EU nationals need the three months extra on the passport. The Eurostar site directs you to the French embassy for passport queries, and the French embassy website gave me this info. (Which was also what they had said on the phone in the first place.) I guess the guidebook just has to cover all possibilities.
Thanks again for the replies.

Thats a relief!

I bet you are pleased to have it all sorted out. Its a bit of a nightmare scenario - arriving at the day of travel and being told your documents aren't correct:scared1: .
I hope the rest of your planning is more pleasant.

I agree, what a relief! :) I always feel so sorry for those people on that Easyjet programme where they have forgotten their passports/got their dates wrong.

As it goes, you'd probably find that if you use the Post Office checking service, your passport would be back in time. They seem to turn them around really quick these days (and they prioritise those with earlier travel dates on the form). Much better than days of old when it could take 6 weeks.
