SOrry - mine was right around 6 weeks. I felt lucky because mine was supposed to come from New Orleans. Luckily, it was sent out just days before Katrina hit.
I renewed my passport back in June and it only took three and a half weeks. My kids, who got their first passports, only took two weeks! Perhaps the process is taking longer because of the situation in New Orleans?
We decided to get the whole family pasports for our Feb. cruise. The only person that already had a passport was me, and I needed to renew mine before we leave. Everyone else (DH.DD,DS&DS) all had to apply for new ones. They all have received their new passports and I am still waiting!! I figured that mine would get here first becuz it just needed to be renewed! I guess from reading some of the other posts...maybe for some odd reason renewing it takes longer? Its been 8 weeks already!!!
My clients are all reporting that passports, new and renewals, are taking longer. Earlier this year turn around time was very quick (3-4 weeks). Since Katrina we were told to expect them to be back to the estimated 6-8 weeks. Volume is up and other regional offices have to cover the New Orleans region. Most of my clients now are getting them back at just over the 6-7 week mark.
Mine was mailed in 9/6 - processed according to the passport on 10/6 and I received it 10/15 it was a renewal. My kids went in 9/3 - processed 9/16 - received 9/19 - they were new issues.
