Passport renewal question

We JUST did this too! As noted above...March 25th in fact. Took to the PP office in Mississauga and they DID cut the Passport and did NOT stamp void on it! I imagine each office does it 'their' way!! We did not pay extra either and it arrived as mentioned yesterday April 7. including 2 holiday business days in there.

We just did this too and they also cut the corners. DH and I applied in person with the form filled out from the website March 22 and they were promising them back on April 7, add a couple of days for the mail and we should have had them at our house by April 12. DH had his notice from Canada Post on March 31st and mine came April 6th, and this with no mail delivery last Friday or Monday.

As for the previous poster with the dilemma of travelling from the US, my friend did this last month. She was visiting from Denver and arrived March 11, got her photos done at Costco and applied for the passport in person the next day. She had her renewed passport before returning to Denver March 23rd. She had it with a few days to spare so it can be done!

Back to Glendalais again--well, would the consulate in Miami be able to provide you with a list of photographers in Fla. that are equipped to meet the standards for Canadian passport photos? (I am still hoping that there's a way to get a passport photo done without returning to Canada).

We went to st catharines office, they voided ours we supplied new photos made a copy of form we filled out so we could still cross here in niagara falls. We crossed border in falls using copy of form showing we were renewing our passport. But we didnt fly until our new ones came a week later. For us it was no hassle. I had asked at the border before i gave up passport.

I just talked to my friend that will be my guarantor. She said that another friend of ours asked her to also be the guarantor and the passport office actually called her to confirm the info. She was totally shocked.

I'm sure that either her or her hubby will got a call regarding us. They are on both our apps. I hope they call her...her DH won't know our address or phone number without asking her. Even though we have known him for about 15 years.

Anyone ever get the call or their guarantor get called????

Holy Cow....I went to the PP office this past Monday around noon and got my new PP's delivered yesterday morning. That's only 3.5 days.

Good thing I didn't pay the extra fee for the expedited service.

I have signed as guarantor on numerous passports (especially before they changed the rules as to who is eligible to sign as guarantor--I am a lawyer). I used to get calls from the passport office for about half of the applications I signed. Sometimes they would ask me detailed questions about the applicant (what does the applicant look like, how old are they...). Other times they would just verify that I had actually signed the application.
