Passport needed to go to Toronto?

Maybe they didn't have a birth certificate for the baby. I would imagine that without some sort of identification for the baby, it wouldn't be allowed out of the country. Kids over 14 are supposed to have photo id but kids under 14 just need a birth certificate.

Passports are a great investment. :thumbsup2 They are the international travel document of choice and there really is no excuse not to have one. Get a passport folks and watch the doors of the world open up!

You DO need a passport.

My friend, her DH, & 4 month old son planned to go to her grandmother's in Canada over Christmas break. Well, when they got to the airport, they would not let her board the plane because she DID NOT have a passport for her 4 month old. My friend, her DH, & baby spent the holidays here in Maryland.

I do'nt know why they couldn't get in, but it had nothing to do with a passport. There is no requirement for a US citizen to have a passport to enter Canada and vice versa...yet. The law changes later this year.

You need proof of identity and citizenship, my guess is that was the problem, they weren't able to sufficiently prove one of these.
