My neice is applying for passports at the Winnipeg office. Can anyone tell me how the lines etc. are at that office. She has 3 little children she will have to take with her, so am hoping for some answers so that she can plan accordingly.

Thanks

if she hasn't had her guarantor sign the papers yet, have her fill out the online application and print that for the guarantor to sign it. Then when she goes to the office she should tell the person handing out numbers she did the online form and she will get a special number that will skip her past the people waiting with hand written applications.

Unfortunately she can't fill out online as she is doing her 3 children's passports also, and children's applications can't be done online.

I answered this quesiton in a different thread but thats ok...

I went middle of Feb. Got there at 7am (an hour before opening) and I was number 42. They called my number at 8:50am, out by 9.

Hope this helps!

As long as 1 person in the party filled out the forms online you can bypass the normal line. We filled out ours online and the kids normally and we got to take them all through quickly cause we were filled out online. Saved a couple hours atleast.

I just wanted to add....

When I was sitting down in the main room, waiting for them to call my name, I heard that those who got there at 830 half an hour after open), had a 4 hour wait time. So DEFINETLY go before open! I think the doors to the building open at 6:30.

Your niece can definately fill hers own online, and then do her childrens on her own, and still use the online lineup. We did ours that same way just a month ago. As long as the adults have hers done online, she can still have her party use the online lineup, even though her childrens she wrote out on her own.

WE showed up at 11 am on a Tuesday, and were out of the building at 12 noon. If you are using the online lineup, you dont even need to show up early.

I did ours in January here in Ontario and if someone came in with one done online and the other done manually they were giving them numbers for both lines, so I never thought of telling her to do that.

Hi there,
I just got passports for our three children in November. It was a 2 and half hour wait and I got there about 9:00am. I did not take my children, though. I took the applications, the pics signed by guarantor, and that wasn't a problem. I don't think they even asked to see my ID but they did ask if they were my children. I DID have to get the pictures retaken 3 times though. Their heads were too small, then too large, too washed out etc. Leave enough time before the trip to allow for this. Since I didn't have the kids, it took a few days to get back to the photo shop (luckily by our house) and drop it off again downtown. I did not have to wait to drop off the new pictures, though. This was still better than taking three very active boys to wait in line for an entire morning!!
