If my dd (15 yrs old) brings only her passport is that good? Or since she is under 18 does she need her birth certificate as well? I just want to make sure that I am bringing the right stuff! Thanks.

A passport alone will be fine. What is needed is proof of citizenship. I think the passport is the way to go: citizenship and photo ID all in one.

A passport alone is sufficient. If she didn't have a passport, you wouldn't need to get one--just bring the birth certificate.

We'll be getting passports for our 2 DSs, in the spring. We're waiting until April because our older DS will turn 16 at the end of March, and at the age of 16, the passport is good for 10 years. Under the age of 16 is only good for 5 years.

I know some people consider passports to be a waste of money, especially for children, but we just feel better traveling with them, since that's all you need for identification.

we got a passport for our 13yo DD before we cruised last month ... it'll expire in 5 years but felt it was worth it ... didn't have to hassle with a birth cert and we do figure we'll need it at least once in the next 5 years that will make it worth the $$$.
