When you catch the indirect train , so change at Lille, do you go through passport control at MLV?

Last year with indirect/direct trains from MLV to London:

Indirect: Passport control (France/UK) both at Lille
Direct: French passport control at MLV, UK passport control at St Pancras

We did this in Feb.

Leaving from St Pancreas we went through passport control. We never had to at Lille or MLV

Going back from MLV we only had to go through passport control at Lille. We didn't at MLV and only a few were pulled for checks at St Pancreas
