We will be spending our first family vacation in WDW after Thanksgiving. To help pass the time until we get on our way, I have a list of family projects that we can work on. I hope that you get something out of this and will share any ideas that you might have as well.

1) Making matching T-shirts: I have a dozen clip art items to choose from. I have even bought the transfer paper. We are going for 6 nights and are thinking of making 4 or 5 different sets so we have a different set for almost every day. (Is that too much?) :hyper:

2) Countdown Calendars: I haven’t decided yet if we should do a paper chain or something else. One poster mentioned making a tree and pulling off a paper leaf each day. I thought about printing up a calendar and covering the days with sticky notes. Each day you pull off the sticky note and there is a Disney fact, picture of a Disney character, or the name of a Disney movie to watch that week. :scratchin

3) Letters from Mickey and friends: I picked up a bunch of Disney character stickers at Walmart and some glitter pins. Once a week I plan to "send" a letter from Mickey or another Disney character. I will make it at work and mix in the mail when I get home so each girl gets their own letter from a Disney friend.

4) Mickey Head Desserts: Once a month I plan on making a special dessert like shaping sugar cookie dough into little mickey heads, using a roll of chocolate chip cookie dough to make a giant mickey head cookie, or taking 1 round cake layer and 2 cupcakes to make a mickey head cake. Maybe I will go beyond desserts for this one. I think a Mickey head meat loaf is in my future. ::MickeyMo

What ideas would you like to share?

Good ideas!

I am selling alot of stuff on ebay..lol trying to make extra moola for the trip.

But besdies that...

We have a Disney Family movie night. (when we take our dd to the movie theatre..we buy her the kids pack..like 4.25 for a box of popcorn, m&m's and a drink) we then save the little box it comes in and it makes movie time at home even more fun!!

We play the Disney Trivia Game.

We are going to count down with Hershey Kiss' in a jar.

Going to ATTEMPT the DIsney Tie Die's for matching T's *still talking hubby into the matching tee idea* pirate:

I am stumped for ideas too though after that. We have so much time left..we need more ideas!!! :listen:

The hershey kiss thing. Is that pulling a kiss out everyday until the jar empties? Hmm. I like that idea. It would be nice to find some chocolates or candies with Disney characters on them. Maybe I will pick up some chocolate coins or such and put a different Disney character sticker on them before putting them in the jar.

We are also doing Disney movie afternoons at home. We have a small collection of Disney movies. We also borrow from the library or rent what we don't have. Since the twins are only 2yo, their attention span is short so they only last about 20 minutes at a time. This makes a movie last a good long while. :rotfl:

Cute..I like the coin idea..with the Disney Stickers, i haven't been able to find chocolate coins in years..i alwasy look for them around xmas time..but can't find them..have a heads up on that?

Great ideas. We're going the day after turkey day too! Last year I was busy selling on ebay and buying meal vouchers through hotwire. This year there are no more meal vouchers and I'm running out of things to ebay! I need to make extra $ so it's time to clean out the closets again.

I'm going to try the local candy shops in town. If that doesn't work, I'm going to buy online.

We are passing the time with our countdown calendar, saving $$ in our Money jar, family movie night. Our trip isn't untill September, so I also have a bit of time. Dh and I are planning to make up a treasure hunt for the girls too evenly though they are not evenly matched (2yr old and a 6 yr old), the little one will run alongside the older one and will be just as excited, there will be numerous small prizes that can be evenly split (ie. disney dollars, small stuff to keep us all happy on the road, a new Disney Video to watch on the way down)! We will be doing tye-dye at an art camp so we are going to try to creat tye-dye Mickey shirts. The countdown calendar we made together with sequin Mickey heads (Large sequin for the head small ones for ears) marking off the days, we decorated a black board with glitter pens and a couple of HomeDepot Mickey head paint samples too that the HD rep gave the girls on our last visit.

I love the Mickey dessert idea, I just might use that this weekend as DD will be celebrating the finish of her 1st grade HS year!

I just recently found little bags of coins at Rite Aid. It was up with the candy by the registers. I asked if they carried them all the time and they told me yes.

ooo..thanks for the info! Have to check that out!!

I just bought a bunch of bags gold coins at World Market. They are on sale 20% off. It was $2.90 for a bag of approximately 50 coins.

I've got lots to keep me busy till our October trip..

Our house goes on the market July 15th as we are building a new house, so we are spending all our time getting this one ready while planning for the other one..

Our builder keeps telling us the house will be ready in early October and we are in WDW until October 8th so I keep reminding them we will NOT cancel even one day of my first trip to go to settlement.

With all this we also have our week in late August at our timeshare in NC and my one and only niece is getting married on the beach in Nags Head in September.

My plan is once we get the house sold, to pack up as much as humanly possible before the beach trip, then when we get back from the beach, repack for the wedding and pack more from the house, then when we get back from the wedding, take the house down to the very minimium needs so we can go to WDW not worried about the move.. Hope all this works, I dont want to come home from WDW all happy and relaxed and then get all stressed out about the move.

I've also spent a great deal of time pre-scrapping my photo pages (I digital scrap) for the trip so when I get back I can just lay in the pictures and make adjustments as needed and they will be done.. This has been lots of fun for me.

I can't wait to get to WDW.. I need a rest just thinking about all that is facing me LOL

OK. I finished our countdown calendar. I printed up the months from July to November on each day did one of the following:

- Wrote down a Disney park trivia fact
- Placed a sticker of a Disney character
- Sprinkled "pixie dust" (used a glitter glue pen)
- Listed an activity (Making a mickey shaped treat such as cookies or krispy treats, or watching a Disney movie)

I covered each day with a colored sticky note. On the sticky note I wrote how many months, weeks, days left till our vacation.

:cheer2:
