Well with no free dining codes for July, looks like the best discount available for our 11 nights at WDW is for me to purchase an AP. With the rates we secured we come out a couple hundred ahead of where we were with the AAA rates (after factoring in the additional cost of the AP).

But how else can I put this AP to use. Which restuarants and stores offer AP discounts? We know for sure we would like to purchase a Pal Mickey. Any discounts available for that?

Also does anyone have a list of the restaurants that accept DDE. I am trying to decide if its worth it for us to purchase that with the Ap discount. We have PS/AR's at PSB in Epcot, Kona Cafe, Cape May Buffet, 50's Primetime, Whispering Canyon, Donald's, CRT, Le Ceilier, O'Hana and a Fantasmic Dining Package.

Thanks for any help. I hope this is the right board to post this on.

As for getting discounts on meals, you are better off buying the DDE card because your AP does not get you any food discounts at all.
All the restaurants you listed accept DDE, as almost most of the food establishments in Disney do. I dont have the link for all the restaurants...maybe someone else will post it :teeth:
There are no merchandise discounts IN the Disney theme parks with your AP, but the World of Disney store in DTD give a discount with your AP. I cant remember if they sell Pal Mickey though.
The AP is a great value, especially if you park hop alot and are planning to go back to Disney within a year. Usually, the discount to stay on Disney properties is better than the AAA rate with your AP.
Anyways, hope this helped a bit :teeth:

one note to the above poster's reply: the fantasmic dinner package is excluded from the DDE discount.
the price of the DDE card will be saved using the other dinner's you have AR's for, so getting it will be a good deal.
Order the AP, even if you only get one AP and everyone else in your party gets the MYW tickets, you will save money. However, it might be advantageous for everyone in your family to get AP's just in case you get the urge to go to WDW again within the next year (twelves months of activating the AP).
Please be aware, however, there is a danger with having an AP: the danger is that the Disney addiction may hit you very hard and you will end up going two or three times in the twelve month period.
have fun whatever you decid.

Just 35 days until my addiction is satified again.

Thanks! You guys have helped alot. Sounds like I should definitely look into getting DDE. And I will shop at World of Disney first to see if they have Pal Mickey. Otherwise we'll just get it Once Upon a Toy with the certificate for the pin from the Pal Mickey game. My kids have been saving their Disney dollars for months to buy one each.

Unfortunately, I don't think we will be getting back to WDW within 12 months. We live within driving distance of Disneyland so the cost of 4 cross country plane tickets isn't easy to justify. We are planning a couple trips to DL within that time though. So I do wish there was some sort of discount for purchasing a DL AP if you were a WDW AP holder (like the renewal discount, except I would renew at DL). But of course there isn't.

I have gotten an AP discount at Rainforest Cafe (resturant and store).

WE just prdered the DDE for our 8 day trip in July. I think that it is the best idea because it covers many resorts for breakfast and sit down restaurants and the 20% is off of everything including alcohol.

I haven't seen the 2005 AP discounts, but last year I got 10% off all lunches at epcott restaurants and some of the other ones in the resorts. I also got 10% off at World of DIsney shopping. THey also had discounts on park tours and mini golf.

I think it is the same this year.

DW & I broke even on the DDE card in just 5 days last month. We are looking forward to saving a lot more before it expires on 5/31/2006.

If you just need an AP for the room discount, you can save money by buying a child's AP and include that name on the reservation. However, you have to 18 for the DDE card, so that maybe that won't work for you.

It took my family of 5 to break even in just 2 days! Boy was this a $ saver for us!!!!!

I purchased the DDE for my June trip. I saved $22. just on my Luau dinner. I saved the cost of the tips at all the other restaurants. I tip 20% for all sit downs as I am sure most do. The only one I tip less for is the Buffets.

Savings Luau $24.59 including drinks,
Whispering canyon $11.99
Trails end Buffet $5.79
Chef Mickeys I lost the slip sorry
Beaches & Cream $6.41 Kitchen sink YUMMY!!
Prime time Cafe $10.10
San Angel Inn $8.41

total $67.29 this was all the slips I found-- We stayed at WL & VWL and took 2 days of R&R there. So we ate several more times at Whispering Canyon as my DS6 loves to yell for ketchup :rotfl:

Even if you just look at the slips i found I saved almost $20.

I plan on going back in Aug and for Feb & April vacation just DS6 and MOM vacations. So the savings will continue. Oh and I plan on doing the HDD and Breakfast in the Castle on my Aug trip.

Have a great trip!! :wave2:
