Is is cheaper to buy the park hopper/plus passes at a Disney Store or online? We want to purchase before the end of the year?

They are the same price at both places, you save shipping at the DS. They are considered advance purchases at both venues.

You are only talking about a $3 total difference in price. If you purchase them online or by phone, Disney will add a $3 shipping charge per order, not per ticket. If it's worth $3 to you to not have to drive to a Disney Store, you might consider buying them online or by phone.
