Passenger pick up at grand Floridian

Is it possible for my husband to pick up the kids and myself at grand Floridian (gingerbread house time of year)? He wouldn’t be parking or anything .

in theory, yes. He would just need to tell the guard your names and room number. However, I have read two posts (not here) of people complaining because when they went to pick up people from GF recently (one pick up was someone just viewing holiday decorations and one was for a person staying at GF), the guard told them that they would need to meet their party at the TTC.

We aren’t staying at grand Floridian, checked out of bay lake today. Trying to avoid dealing with the monorail it’s been slammed this weekend.

At MK now and thought if kids and I walked to GF he could get car and pick us up when done.

Highly unlikely. If you don't have a dining, spa, recreation or resort reservation, he will, most likely be turned around at the security kiosk.

Edited to add: you can also take the boat back and forth from MK. Is your car still at Bay Lake? If so, perhaps just boat back and forth and then walk back to your car.

I imagine it will depend on the guard and how crowded it is when he comes for you. If anything is certain with accessing a Disney resort, it’s the uncertainty involved.

I find this thread a little ironic. It reminds me how, when AKL was first built, the PTB at Disney talked about making it a "closed" resort, where you couldn't come in just to shop in the gift shop or look around. But a few months after it opened, they had received so many complaints from guests about being overly restrictive that they rescinded that policy. Perhaps someone might say "Oh, yes-but that was when they cared about what their guests thought."

Was he on the stay with you? I’d just walk back to bay lake. He’ll have no problem getting in there if he’s somewhere else. You’re a guest all day, even on check out say. So you can still come & go in the parking lot

Except a lot of this is due to actual paying resort guests not being able to park at their resort. Parking lots were full of people trying to avoid parking fees, looking to park closer to parks or make quick exits after visiting the parks. It’s not because Disney doesn’t want people spending money at resorts. It’s to avoid complaints from people who are already paying hundreds or thousands to stay at resorts.

None of the resorts are closed. Disney provides free transportation to anyone, whether they are staying on WDW property or not, to access resorts to shop or look around. You can even park at DS for free and take Disney transport to any resort. How else do you want people to be accommodated? GF simply doesn't have enough parking capacity to allow both guests with and without reservations to park there and priority needs to go to guests with reservations. I couldn't imagine paying $1000+ a night at a resort only to find I have nowhere to park my car.

Why not just walk back to bay lake or contemporary security entrance and get picked up there? Seems much easier

I just returned from GF and I would bet no. Super strict with resort parking at every location. I couldn’t take my grandson to see radiator springs layout at the economy resort … guard would not let us in.

Could you just stand somewhere near the guard shack and get in the car when they pull up? When they turn him around he’ll have to pull through and turn around toward the exit and you could get in the car before he exits.

The guards may not allow that, either. There’s no sidewalk or other safe place to stand near the guard shack, especially with kids.
