Pass renewal

We may have a buyer for our Fl house, fingers crossed.

I hold a Fl resident pass now but if it sells, can we get an AP at a renewal rate? and also use our DVC discount? Or do I have to buy an AP at DVC price not renewal?

I am sure going to miss the florida specials but not the taxes and cost to keep a house we can't use. I had it from my first marriage and it is going down hill. I will be happy just to be out.

Not sure if you can renew at the Florida resident rate but I would imagine it would be no after you close on the sale of your property. Anyway, you can not combine the two discounts (Florida resident and DVC) to create an even bigger discount. It's either one or the other but not both.

I didn't state this correctly. I have a Fl resident but want an AP. Not two discounts on one pass, I want just one pass.

Can I buy a AP at renewal prices or do I have to buy it as a new pass? Does that make more sense?

I guess you are saying that you currently have an AP, not a seasonal pass, which you purchased at the FL resident rate. When it comes up for renewal, you want to know if you can renew it at the DVC renewal rate, or if you will have to pay for a new pass at the DVC rate, is that what you are asking?

As far as I know, yes, you'll be able to renew at the DVC renewal rate, but not the FL resident rate, as you will no longer be a FL resident.

Ah, so you currently have a seasonal pass, not an Annual Pass. That changes things, I think. Since you are not actually renewing an AP, you very well may have to pay for a new DVC discounted AP the first year.

I'm actually thinking of renewing my seasonal to an annual pass and plan to call today to get more particulars on it. I'll try to remember to ask about your situation and see what they tell me.

The difference in cost for a DVC new AP versus a DVC renewal AP is not much....only $15 as I recall. So depending on your next trip, it may make more sense to just wait and get a new AP regardless of the answer to your question.

A seasonal pass isn't exactly an annual pass, there are black out dates.

I completely agree that they aren't the exact same. However, WDW DOES consider them as an annual pass. You are eligible for ALL AP discounts with a seasonal pass. The only differences are: blackout dates and no free parking. You can buy the DDE, you can get a room discount, you can get the AP dining discounts, etc.

I did call ticket services on a number of questions I had and I asked this specific question for the OP.

I was told that yes, you can renew your pass at the renewal time (or up to 30 days after the expiration date), and get the discounted price off your new pass. If you currently have a seasonal and want to buy a regular AP, the discount will come off the regular AP price. If your regular AP price is the non-FL price, then that's what the discount comes off of.
