We just have one daughter. Last time we went with others and had an even number. This time, if it's just the three of us what rides will we have to have someone ride alone? We will try to do thunder mountain and splash, but no other thrill rides. Thanks.

A few would major ones would be Toy Story Mania, Rock'n'RollerCoaster, Exp. Everest.

If your daughter is small, she might be able to sit between you and your husband on Thunder Mountain. Same with Splash. You can sit 3 together on Buzz Lightyears Space Ranger Spin, but the person in the middle won't be able to shoot a gun. When my youngest daughter was small, we managed to squeeze her between us on almost everything!

We are a family of 3 with a 6 year old. Now that's he's bigger, we switch so the same person isn't always riding alone.

Toy Story is the worst! Whoever sits by themselves can't even see the other two. So you feel really isolated.

We did the same thing with our only son. BUT - once we were in line for the ride, we had HIM choose who he wanted to ride with if that would be the case. On thrill rides, he might pick me because "I want to hear Mommy scream!" and it would add to the fun because I would try not to scream. Or, it might be, "Daddy because he loves this ride and we can have fun!" so I would know they were having a blast.

The most important part? After the ride when we took a break and compared the experiences. Added to the fun of the trip.

I'm kind of concerned with this for our trip this summer. It will be me, dh and dd who is 14. Dh and I are definitely on the chubby side. Neither dh or I are thrill ride people but dd is. So we'll take turns riding them with her so no big deal on those. But things like Haunted Mansion, Buzz etc one of us will have to ride alone which just isn't nearly as much fun.

Guess it's all in the personality. I'm almost always the one to ride without a companion, and it's just as much fun as riding with someone.

But I don't mid being alone. Was single through all of my 20s or with guys that couldn't be relied on and didn't like going places and doing things, so I spent a lot of time doing things on my own.

Guess it translated to never feeling like I'm not having fun just because I wasn't competing against someone sitting next to me on TSMM, or that I couldn't enjoy HM just as much because DS and DH are in the doom buggy just after me, etc.

On the Haunted Mansion and Buzz - if you are in the next car you get to see each other. Maybe you can bring a friend. We started doing that years ago and it makes it so much fun. Especially if the friend has never gone....it is like all new.

Enjoy!

I asked the same question on a different site. I got this answer. I would love another opinion from someone. I have a girl thats almost 4, and shes just over 40 inches.
"At the Magic Kingdom *the only rides I think you may have a problem seating three would be the Tomorrowland Speedway, Astro-Orbiter, and The Barnstormer. *Keep in mind you will only be a seat away and can snap some really great pictures. *We have an unforgettable picture of my daughter and me on The Barnstormer captured by her daddy who was in front of us. *

Unless your daughter is very tall, I don't see any problems at *Disney's Animal Kingdom, or Disney's Hollywood Studios, the rides that would only hold two guests are Expedition Everest-Legend of the Forbidden Mountain, and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith. * You will be able to experience everything as a family at Epcot! "

Just as a point of reference, My two sisters and I (3 adult women) travel as a group of three frequently. We have found that we fit comfortably into one clamshell on the little mermaid ride, uncomfortably into one of the nemo clamshells, comfortably with room to spare in a pirate ship on Peter Pan, and somewhat uncomfortably into one doom buggy on the haunted mansion - but we squish together anyway. Big thunder, splash, RnR, Buzz, and TSM, someone goes it alone. If you do the barnstormer, someone will go alone too - those seats are tiny! Winnie the Pooh is nice too bc you can all ride in one honey pot, even if you're not in the same row.

I was there last year with just DS14 and DD10. I am a bit overweight, DS is taller than me, but very skinny and DD is very tall for her age. So, we were basically like one regular sized adult and two petite adults. We were fine with 3 on everything except:

MK: Barnstormer (only 2 across, no matter what)
Speedway (can fit one adult w/ 2 very small children)
Astro Orbiter (same as Speedway)
Dumbo - don't know if 3 can fit as we separated on this so DD could bounce us up and down to her heart's content
Buzz - we like our own lasers

We fit fine on: Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan, Little Mermaid

Splash and BTMRR: we fit - but it was tight

Epcot - no separating here (except we chose to use single rider line on Test Track, we fit fine in a Nemo clammobile)

Animal Kingdom: Everest is only 2 across

Hollywood Studios: Toy Story
I don't ride Rock 'n' Roller Coaster

We are a family of three with a seven year old. I find that this is a good number. We just returned from WDW a few days ago. There was only one ride the whole time that required one of us to sit with a stranger. I think where one of you may have to sit with a stranger is when they have the single rider line.

Midway Mania, Prime Evil Whirl, Dinosaur = 1 seat was left empty.
Peter Pan, Mermaid, Haunted Mansion, Nemo = Two adults and a child sit comfortable.
Goofy Barnstormer, Dumbo, Buzz Lightyear = someone sits with the child and someone rides alone.
Boat rides, safari, everyone fits in a row.

The only ride that we had to share a car was on Winnie the Pooh. One family sat in the front, another family sat in the back.

My husband and I didn't see it that way if we were "alone" because our son picked the other parent for that particular attraction. We were happy our son was having a great time with the other parent because we knew we'd get our time with him soon. And we did. We treasured the "alone time" with him and the "alone" time with just ourself didn't last that long at all. Five minutes compared to a lifetime of memories? Easy.
