What is the Party for the Senses? Where in Epcot is it held and what is the cost? Do reservations usually go quickly?
The Party for the Senses is a "private dining" event at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. It's held at the spacious World Showplace, which was the Millenium Village pavilion back in 1999-2000.
First, you get VIP seating for an "Eat to the Beat" concert at the America Gardens Theatre at 5:00 p.m. prior to the dining event.
The dining event lasts three hours (6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.), during which you can enjoy dozens of different foods and wines from guest chefs and wineries. You "graze" from station to station, receiving appetizer sized food portions and pours of wine (and some other beverages). The food quality is very high, and it's a great chance to try some unusal foods. There is limited seating; in some ways it's like a giant cocktail party.
You get to keep your wine glass.
In 2002, the price was $79 plus tax (gratuity included, park admission required). In 2003, the price was $85. The price for 2004 has not been announced, but I hope it doesn't go up too much more. It's already rather pricey.
The reservations don't go that quickly. Each Party for the Senses can handle 300 people or so. (In comparison, some limited capacity F&W Festival private dining events book
very quickly.)
Last year, they began taking reservations in mid-July. They haven't announced a date yet for this year.
