Ok here's a question regarding offsite stays.

We won't be onsite for our stay but I would love to visit the different resorts while we're there. So my question is, can I openly drive up to and park at the various resorts? Am I gonna run into any kind of trouble where they won't let me?

You can park to eat or shop for up to 3 hours. Unless its particularly crowded you shouldn't have a problem.

Thank you for doing that, it is really appreciated and so important!

I volunteer at Blood Drives (I'm the one who gives you cookies and keeps an eye on you just after for 5 mins) I do this because I cannot donate because I am British .... its all to do with the mad cow disease even though for 30 yrs there is still no evidence that it transfers to humans, so I will never be able to donate here (donated all the time in the UK). It makes me sad because, and even Red Cross nurses will tell you this, there is nothing to indicate it would be a problem. But, because of this ban, people who have spent so much time in Europe are banned aswell so guess what? Thats 400,000 blood donors we have lost from the military. And we have a huge shortage.

Anyway, sorry, off my soap box now and thank you again dnsmills you really are saving lives :)

I was up early because I had to drop DD off for a Girl Scout event at 7am .... thats just wrong!

totally understand....., MIL passed away from CJD(basically "mad cow" human form). even though they have no idea how she had gotten it, if is passed down, can take 30+ yrs to show up, ect....we(DH and kids) can not donated blood or be organ donor....

Great to know! I have been wondering whether you need a ticket to even drive to the resorts (I know I'm showing my newbie-ness)! We'll be there Christmas Week and would love to see all the gingerbread houses that others have mentioned on their TRs. Though, since it'll be the busiest time of the year we may encounter some problems. Oh well, all part of the adventure!

Hello :wave2:

I'm sorry to hear that

:offtopic: sorta. A friend of mine just returned from DW and told me she didn't think it was fair that she had to pay for parking when she was checking into the Poly. Ugh. :scared1: I had given her a lot of tips for her trip but I never thought to mention telling the main gate person you were checking in. Can't believe I forgot that.

So I had a crazy Disney dream last night too - I dreamed I was with my Mom and my sister's family and we were trying to decide where we would spend the day- and settled on Disneyland in Eastern Canada! Because it was close to where we were ( no idea where we were supposed to be.) and my sister was not too excited because they went to Disneyland in California all the time. (Which would be a little tough since she lives in NC.) so I had this guide book the size of a phone book with all the parks and I was trying to find a list of rides that were unique to the Canadian park and make a plan. And of course, the number of people going with us kept growing.

I woke up with a distinct need to plan something. :) fortunately the baseball fields are unplayable from all the rain we've had so games are cancelled. We let DS open his birthday presents last night. ( birthday is Tues.) so he's happily playing Skylanders Giants and it will be a quiet weekends for all if us.

Happy Saturday everyone:goodvibes

My husband has only been gone for 4 days and will be gone for another 10 days, but he may regret that decision considering how bored I am and I cannot control my Disney spending habbit when I am bored:rotfl2:

So, I was up way too early and far too bored this morning for my own good (and the good of my credit card:rotfl:)

I ended up buying tickets for MVMCP (December 18th) :cheer2: I may keep this is a surprise from the girls and my husband, hahahahahaha!

See, I had been contemplating attending the party on our arrival day, but with that being a travel day I didn't want to risk it and I didn't want us to get worn out at the beginning of our vacation. So this morning I started researching the party dates and realized that for the 18th we had no park plans and only a Trail's End reservation, which I have now changed to our arrival day evening.

Just so hard to sit and wait, counting down the days...54 today!!!! without spending time tweaking plans, adding more plans, rearranging ADR's, charging more Disney to the CC etc.:lmao:

What a GREAT surprise. I'd never be able to get away with that since our debit Visa send text alerts to both DH and I. If I want to do that I have to give the money to my Mom as have her do it.

Good morning December DISers!

Does anyone know if they sell eggnog somewhere on Christmas eve or day?
I'd also like to know the answer to this question. DS20 loves egg nog.

LoL..I've always wanted to be brave enough to cut my hair that short but I'm such a chicken!
Just start cutting it a bit shorter each time you go. That's what I did over the years. Then I decided to grow it back out since I'm lucky not to have gray hair at 50. I thought I might as well go for it since that's not going to last forever!

Loved seeing the other haircut photos. Very cute!

I love these - that is a really good price - where did you find them? At 6PM they want $62 for the same shoes.
I love 6 pm. I never look anywhere else unless there is a specific shoe I want. For those who weren't aware, it's Zappos outlet. :thumbsup2

Checked and prices are still around $200 for the time we will be there for a midsize. Guess I'll just stick with advantage and pray for the best.
I think that's the best we can do. I have given up for now, will check again closer to the date.

Just scored an ADR at 8:05am for the Crystal Palace!! Park opens at 9! :cool1:
Awesome! If you can do that it gives me hope I'll be able to move my Yak & Yeti ressie up a bit. It's at 1 pm which is later than I'd like.

I'm trying to figure out if it's better to hit the first show for Nemo or be in the first seating at Yak & Yeti, in order to minimize overall waiting. Does anyone have any thoughts on that?

So, I dreamed last night that because the kids were out of school yesterday and today for fall break, we loaded up, drove to orlando and went to JUST MNSSHP....

O.K. I just realized, that because of you peeps, that I dreamed last night of shopping for luggage! ....
I almost always have nightmares, and they are almost always about my kids. Last night some guy with a shotgun was after us. We've been through tornados, floods, you name it. I think it's because two of them are away from home in college now. I wish I could just dream about luggage- but if I did, it would probably have one of them zipped up in it! :scared1:
Very happy that so many of you have the Sketchers that I just bought. I love having cute shoes that are good for your feet! I think the dress code at Signature restaurants basically say jeans are fine...no cut offs, tanks, tshirts with offensive language, or swim wear. I will probably wear black pants/capris or maybe even a simple maxi dress with a sweater. I would actually like to check Kohl's on my way home from church on sunday to see if I can score a very simple, cute dress on clearance :)
Awesome idea! I have just this combo, it's a Hale Bob dress that packs really well. I love it when I can "shop my closet". Thanks!

are thinking about Disney 24/7 :teeth: We haven't had any dreams yet of our trip. I probably wont until after we get back.

Right now, I'm realizing that DH has 3 paychecks (bi-weekly) before we go, the first one being this Wednesday. Disney seems further away when I say next month. It feels much closer now when I say 3 paychecks

I also sent out the first edition of my "countdown newsletter" to the family! I'm sending one every Monday (this one was basically an introductory newsletter). The kids loved it!

You see, we always used to do a countdown of little plastic Disney toys (about the size you'd get from a Happy Meal) and would put one up each day until we got to put up this big Mickey statue. It's amazing how many of these little toys we had- I think we started about 40-50 days ahead of time.

Anyway, can't do that very effectively with two of them gone, and they're all older anyway so a bunch of little toys may not have the same appeal any longer. Plus, there is stuff they really do have to know, since the college kids have to get out there on their own. Amazingly, the planes are timed to arrive at almost the same time as ours from Montana, but we all know how that can go awry!

The next edition will contain info on their flights, ME and the YC, with lots of pictures and bad jokes. :rotfl: I'm just happy they don't think Mom is a little wacky, or if they do they aren't saying so....

3 paychecks that will probably all be spent at Disney!:goodvibes
The scary thing about all of this is that a lot of the holiday season is coming, too, before my trip. I think we'll all be glad that we did a lot of advance planning.

Among other things, DH & I always throw the office party at our house. That is really a major pull on my time & energy. I'll be ready for my Disney vacay!

I'm headed to Target today for some pre-trip purchases. Just getting to go to Target alone is exciting, there are some things I miss now that I live in NYC. Going to Target or Wal-mart on a whim is one of them. Now it takes planning.

We sat down and planned out the rest of our ADRs on Thursday night. I feel like I'm going to do nothing but eat and not have time for anything else. :confused3 I've been told that this will not be our only Disney trip so it's ok if we don't do "everything".

Anyone ever feel like they are planning too much? I'm afraid it's too structured. I know we can cancel an ADR up to the day before.

DH and I are coming December 13-17 to celebrate our 10th anniversary! I am SO excited to have an adults only trip. We are doing the CP package and MVMCP too. Christmas is my favorite holiday and I haven't been to the World around Christmas since I was a kid!

I wish we could use it all for Disney but there are the normal bills that have to be paid. The good thing though is that paycheck #4 is while we're in Disney. So that helps as long as we don't go overboard.

DH is the head of the systems department at one of the local universities's libraries. They always have a library and systems holiday party there. The only time his department and the director of the library get together for a party is for the superbowl.

One of DH's employee's always holds a superbowl party. However, this year I believe another co-worker is going to be holding it since he just moved into his new house. So it's more of an open house/superbowl party.

Done! Sometimes photobucket and I don't like each other... :sad2:

The pic I sent you is from the summer with my littlest munchkin - the pumpkin festival one kept giving me this broken sign!
