Subbing! Can finally focus on this trip since I just got back from F&W. Have to look forward to something or I will be post disney depressed! Still, while we were there, I was dreading being there from 12/30-1/4, it is gonna be packed!!!

Q: I did sign us up for the CP dinner package on 12/30, but someone said this is a waste of money. Does anyone have any experience with this? I was thinking it was really necessary being this time of year.

TIA!

That's the last one too. I can't imagine it's a waste. We have the CP 12/25 I mean u don't have to have it....if you want to wait in line forever.

Thank you! I applaud you and your apple pie efforts. I am 50 years old and have NEVER made an apple pie from scratch! My grandmother was such a fantastic pie maker, I knew I could never be as good so I never tried ;)

CRT is the perfect choice for a young girl's birthday....I would also suggest Be Our Guest and Akershus in Norway at Epcot! We're doing those three this December!

I have an apple pie in the freezer and need to make another to freeze for thanksgiving. We are loaded with apples... Made apple chips tonight and they are a great snack!!

What about Akershus - what are her favorites? My daughter is three (and my other 15 months) and we have CRT, Akershus, Chef Mickey and Crystal Palace and I know my 3 yo will love them all. We are also going to Coral Reef which will be a hit bc she adores aquariums.... I think there are sooooo many options in disney that it depends on your daughter and her interests. :) Yeah I know I didn't help!!

So I have to say I love the disboards... Stumbled upon a thread about upgrading UT tickets and I need to make sure I use them first to get the gate value! Just saved a few bucks!:wizard:

Thank you, my mom makes great pies people always rave about her crust so I called and got that recipe. My grandmother made the best homemade mac and chesse and I have tried to copy it and it never turns out right.

Are you looking to avoid CRT? If she likes Winnie the Pooh, she should in theory like CP :) I was showing my daughter Characters via youtube just to see her reaction and just like in Disney I think she was trying to figure out a way to be with them!! Also, you could maybe do a princess day and maybe pick out something special, go to BBB (we are going to stop by and get pixie dusted) and go to BOG. I really wonder when they will start including Rapunzel, Tiana and Merida in some of the character meals.... My daughter loves Rapunzel and Tiana.... I think a meal in the park is super special and then with a the other extras you plan (whether its a pirate make over or just holding hands down main street) the day is going to be super special.

Apple Chips - Preheat oven to 200 degrees,

2-3 Apples
1.5 tbl of Sugar (I did half brown and half regular granulated)
1 tsp (I did heaping!) cinnamon

I lined two baking pans with parchment paper, then sliced apples super thin on my mandolin discarding the seeds as I went (you could use a knife if you have more patience than me!) . I did it so the centers almost looked like stars. I then put them on the baking sheet 1 layer thick and tried not to overlap any pieces. I think sprinkled cinnamon and sugar mix and baked for 2 hrs. Half way through I made sure the pieces we not sticking or burning to parchment.

Super simple! And if you like them chewy do it less, like them crispy bake them more. They were so yummy!!:rolleyes1

Yes we are avoiding CRT, DH really wants to wait DD is older because we will probably only on it once. I am hoping she still likes charactes on both our trips. lol ooh pixie dusted is a great idea for her third bday since she has curly hair that I would not make them deal with. Yes I hope they add those princesses to soem meal. The picture I really want and have for a while is dh, dd and I walking hand in hand down mainstreet.

I ended up buying tickets for MVMCP (December 18th) :cheer2: I may keep this is a surprise from the girls and my husband, hahahahahaha!

Yay! :cheer2:

Just start cutting it a bit shorter each time you go. That's what I did over the years. Then I decided to grow it back out since I'm lucky not to have gray hair at 50. I thought I might as well go for it since that's not going to last forever!

I'm jealous - I began getting my, what I call, Morticia streak, at about 32!

I almost always have nightmares, and they are almost always about my kids. Last night some guy with a shotgun was after us. We've been through tornados, floods, you name it.

Well I told you guys about my Disney dream where Rod Stewart was stalking us everywhere, sitting next us on rides, next to us in lines, just watching us. Usually I have crazy dreams, recently the world had been taken over by "aliens" and I was working underground to fight against them, above ground there were 10ft tall lychee fruits that suffocated you if you got too near so my whole dream was about trying to avoid them :confused3

All NEW Post #3!

can't wait to read these :goodvibes

So today hubby had to work so I finished painting the backsplash in my kitchen.......and I worked on some of my "princess etc ornaments" for my tree! I bought the frame ornaments from Dollar General and printed the clipart from the internet on photo paper and reduced the size to 2"x3". This is the finished product:

Absolutely amazing! Those embellishments are stunning!

We were cleaning this morning and my husband surprised me with this. Too bad our cats don't appreciate it.
Ha! Love it!

I think she means the Coca-Cola cans that have Santa on them.

Oh! I thought he meant the guys dressed as Santa outside WalMart with collecting cans .... I'm imagining Kathy with her very own Santa tagging along with her everywhere in Disney with Kathy telling her husband "This isn't what I thought a Santa can was !" :rotfl:

Yay so happy was able to change my Candlelight Processional package to Le Cellier from Coral Reef!!! Nice surprise after the couple crummy weeks I've had!

Thank you everyone for the nice comments on my princess ornaments. It turned out to be a lot more than I was planning on but story of my life...not happy unless I make things complicated. :rotfl2: I ended up making 12 of the princess ornaments since y'all made me realize I just couldn't exclude any of them ;) Now what shall I do to pass the time? I already watched Beauty and the Beast today....now hubby and I are watching Peter Pan.

They are super cute!!! Since you are so creative you could maybe help me figure out how I should surprise my kids?! :confused3 Before we get on the plane, when we land? We are flying through the night and change planes in Houston.

There are a couple people in here who are surprising their kids too! How fun is that? Me? There is no way I could pull that off! I don't know your kids' ages so that's probably a deciding factor in how you reveal the big trip. Do they know they are going somewhere.....just not the location? I think someone can chime in in how they are letting their kids know......

If you take off the DDP tomorrow could you add it back later? We're not doing DDP (except for one night, because we wanted Garden Grill and have a 1 night reservation at the beginning of trip before switching to our main villa), we're going all OOP but we like to share meals, sometimes have an appetizer instead of a meal, usually share dessert, and just don't want to have to worry about maximizing the credits, so DDP would definitely be too much food for us. We're also DVC, so we pay full (non-holiday) price for the DDP; that influenced it, too.

Are there any other discounts you could get? AP/TIW? Character meals and buffets seem to be the best way to get the most bang for your buck out of the DDP, but if you have a bunch of non-character meals in there you might end up kind of stuffed.

I guess my question got lost somewhere.

Does anyone know if eggnog will be sold in parks or anything special to eat or drink?

I read somewhere that they were serving kid-friendly eggnog in front of the American Pavillion in Epcot. That was a while ago so I don't know if they still do that. It would be nice. Others have suggested spiced wine at Osborne lights booth, Grand Floridian had hot chestnuts and mulled cider at Christmas time, and spiced wine at Germany pavillion. :)

Do you have a lot of character meals scheduled? We love the dining plan because we can book lots of character meals (most of them being buffet, which means a bigger variety for the kids) and that way we can be sitting down, eating and relaxing while the characters come to us instead of us waiting in line at every park for every character!

I know that if you drop the dining plan now, you can still add it back on, but it has to be a few days before arriving at Disney. You can't add it once you are there. I can't remember how many days before hand though:confused3 Does anyone here know? At least that way you would pay less for your vacation package now and will have more time to decide about the dining package.

We definitely don't think the dining plan is too much food, but then again we always space out our ADR's with usually only 1 a day, and if we have two a day it's always a breakfast and dinner, with lunch 'free' incase we are still full from breakfast :)

Hope that helps!
