Sooo tired of reading what a nightmare my Christmas Disney trip will be...someone just referred to that time as "vacation suicide" I know it will be very busy..but how can one person call it vacation suicide and others keep telling me if we plan..it will be fine??

I couldn't go during peak times but if I did - it would not be vacation suicide. If you plan, make a list of must do's and keep your expectations realistic it will be a great vacation. I bet these same people have no problem hitting the beach 4th of July weekend.

We are finally back home. We stayed home for a whole day without power, finally went to a hotel last night. Our neighbor called and said power is back, so now we are home and have to empty the whole fridge. The girls are home again from school driving each other crazy and our township moved Halloween til Saturday.

But everyone remained safe and that is the important thing. I hope everyone else fared well - I haven't caught up on the thread yet.

On a Disney note, I saw on another thread that photopass plus preorder is now $149.

I also got some similar responses during the beginning of my trip planning when I asked a few questions about crowds etc. and some of the answers just aggrevated me, so I've stopped asking anything to do with Christmas crowds etc

We will be there over Christmas. We know it will be crowded...how crowded noone really knows until we are there experiencing it ourselves. Any everyone's version of 'crowded' is different, so who knows!? I don't focus on all the negative anymore...

I focus on being able to spend Christmas at Disney and soaking in the Christmas atmosphere and everything Disney has to offer at Christmas. That's it!!!

If it was that aweful, why would so many people keep going back at Christmas?

I am very excited about our trip...Christmas at Disney has always been a dream of ours

I know..I really need to quit reading the negative stuff. We are going there knowing what to expect. Just soo excited for our trip..

Well, we got a call from the vet clinic this morning. Our poor Beethoven had been hit by a car and passed away. So I'm home from work to bury him today. PLEASE posts lots and lots of fun trip plans today so when I finally get back on here I have loads to smile and laugh about!

Oooo. I haven't ordered mine yet. I definitely will now. I hope it isn't just for today because I CANT FIND MY WALLET!!!!!! Sorry, trying not to freak out. I went to Walmart at lunch and opened my purse to pay and it wasn't in there. The last time I remember using it was yesterday at work when I checked my bank balance to make sure we got paid. So I was hoping it was lying on my desk, but it is not. Now I am hoping it is at home somewhere, but I didn't use it for anything last night so I dont know why I would have taken it out of my purse.

I went to Walmart at lunch and opened my purse to pay and it wasn't in there. The last time I remember using it was yesterday at work when I checked my bank balance to make sure we got paid. So I was hoping it was lying on my desk, but it is not. Now I am hoping it is at home somewhere, but I didn't use it for anything last night so I dont know why I would have taken it out of my purse.

First of all ... I sympathize. My 3rd grader is a great little girl, and a good student. But OMG she is scatterbrained. They start planners here in 3rd grade too and she NEVER remembers to bring it home. She claims she writes in it ... but it doesn't come home, so what's the point?

She does her homework, but it's a struggle to make sure she remembers to TURN IT IN. I put it in her folder for her, but she says this is the first year they have to unpack everything in their folder themselves (vs just handing it to the teacher), so it's hit or miss if she actually remembers to turn in her homework. So frustrating.

Anyway, I feel you on the school thing too. We are taking the kids out for five days (3rd grade and kindergarten). This is the third year we've taken out of school for Disney. Our county allows 10 unexcused absences per year. I wrote letters to the principal for each girl about why we were going during the school year, how we would work with the teacher to make up work, etc etc ... and the principal did approve the trip. She did say it would count towards our 10 days total, but that they were approved absences, we could make up all work, etc. So definitely get the principal involved, and make sure you tell your teacher first, and cc him/her on the letter to the principal so they don't feel like you're going over their head.

My oldest is in 2nd grade and her teacher was fine with taking her out the week before the break actually begins. She even suggested that I talk to the principal about receiving credit if dd keeps a journal about her trip. This is the second year that we have taken her out during the school - last year we went in October. I know we won't be able to do it as she gets older and the school work is not as easy to make up.

Oooh!!! We love those who haven't told the kids yet! Adds to the excitment. You do realise from now on its how do WE tell the kids, not how do YOU tell the kids

You guys can help me decide how to tell my dd's. They have no idea that we are going and, in fact, keep telling us that they are going to ask Santa for a trip to Disney for Christmas! I was almost busted last night because DD found a stack of my papers that have Disney plans, ressies, maps, etc. I forget what an excellent reader she is and have to be more careful not to leave that stuff laying around! I had to stretch the truth and tell her I was doing research for the next time we go to Disney...whenever that may be! Both of my girls are going to be beyond ecstatic when we tell them!

Did it fall out of your purse in the car? When I still drove to work I'd find it sometimes under the seat.

Yes, ignore it! I'm one of those people that does Disney all wrong - I never look at crowd calendars, I don't get hoppers, I don't do rope drop, I always go to the park with late EMH that day, I don't budget properly, we dont take breaks at the resort yadda yadda yadda and I know our trip will be awesome!

You know its going to be crowded but heck, you're gonna be at Disney at Christmas time!!

Check your car - thats often where mine is when I lose it.

I am on the fence about it too. But I would like the ride photos. DH hates to take pictures, but I told him I want at least one of us in front of each icon. And I am not sure how many character M&G I will do, but DH wants no part of them. I know I could have the PP use my camera, but I want the cute little borders too.

First we are shopping enablers and now we are haircut enablers. I am trying to hold off for a couple more weeks, will probably do it the week before Thanksgiving or the week after. It needs it so badly now!!
