Landed 20 minutes early and at baggage claim before I was even scheduled to land! Picking up my bags then heading to DME! :GOODVIBES

Why can planes "make up time in the air"? If they can fly that fast, why don't they just do that ALL THE TIME? lol

its usually the landing pattern that makes or breaks the flight - and sometimes tailwinds. I know I've circled ATL for what seemed like hours a couple of times, waiting for landing.

Just chiming in to say I'm about 48 hours away from my plane taking off and heading towards WDW!! Can't wait to have a great dinner at Yachtsman on Saturday night and start our vacation. Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited!!!

Yay! I'm right behind you! We're leaving Austin at 7:30 Saturday morning... Won't be doing the nice dinner you will but looking forward to some Pecos Bills at MK that night or something at DTD would be nice too!

We'll definitely be making a stop at AoA for Little Mermaid merchandise for DD14's Christmas list... although she thinks it's being purchased online

Why can planes "make up time in the air"? If they can fly that fast, why don't they just do that ALL THE TIME? lol

Wind speed (specifically tail winds).

Usually arrival time (and fuel load out) takes into account significant head winds...so you're not overly late should the plane be flying into the wind.

If you've got a good tail wind, or if the plane if flying "light", you can pick up some extra speed.

Destination HD (DESTHD, Channel 286 on Directv) starts showing some Disney focused shows at 10 AM Eastern (in about an hour and 15 min).
They're showing:

Undiscovered Disney Parks
Walt Disney World:Behind the Scenes
Disney's Animal Kingdom

All older stuff...but still.

Are these the same specials that are on NetFlix? I might have to watch them this weekend, thank goodness for NetFlix on my phone

It's Thursday!!!!! The boys spent the night at my Mom's last night so I got a lot of running around accomplished this morning. Went and paid off the dentist (blech), mailed some bills, Dropped off a script to get filled (nasonex is my friend) and went to walmart for some groceries for my Mom and the boys and some stuff for DH and I for the trip. Now I am working on laundry and DS2 is supposed to be laying down watching a movie for quiet time, but it's more like sitting here playing and watching Ninjago. DH is stuck out overnight in the truck tonight so I am hoping he is home early enough tomorrow so I can do my last minute running around before we spend the weekend with the boys doing fun stuff before we leave. I can't believe we are right around 75 hours until we leave (well that is if I figured it out correctly, lol) I need to get off the computer and go clean around the house, anyone want to come clean the bathroom for me?

So tonight I ruined my DD's (almost 7) life--again. I took her to my hairdresser, a hs friend of mine. Her hair hadn't been cut since June, and I wanted it to look healthy for Disney World. I told him I wanted her to have a bob, and then asked what she wanted--silence! She won't talk around new people. So my friend starts cutting her hair, and it is SHORT! It is up to her chin--really cute--but she sobbed most of the way home. She said now her hair won't be long enough for a bun at BBB (oh, you're doing BBB now, I ask?), and she doesn't want her hair looking like this at Disney. I told her about the Diva style, where they add extensions, and showed her pics when I got home. Oy. Now she is saying again she doesn't want to do BBB. If I didn't love this girl so much, I tell you...

Oh no! Hmm ... maybe this will help her learn to speak up to strangers in the future? Its so hard when they're that shy ... my niece was like that for a long time, terrified of strangers, she just turned 8 and is getting better.

It's all most time! Our airport shuttle will be here in about 45 minutes and then we are on our way to DISNEY !!!!!

I DS10 this morning by going into his room, turning on his light and singing real loud, "RISE UP! RISE UP! We're going to DISNEY!"

For those who asked yesterday...I managed to score my wife her coach purse this AM at the factory sale! It's not EXACTLY the one she wanted...it's her second choice (the khaki, rather than the pink):

With tax and shipping it was right around $70.

What a great deal! Its lovely ... and in the long run she might end up liking the khaki better anyhow ... khaki hides dirt great.

How is this for live reporting? I'm 37,000 miles up over Virginia, on my plane! Got a coupon code for free wifi for the flight, so here I am! Won't be on much, but wanted to check in!!!

Oh no DD1 is sniffling and DD3 looks like something is going on... Grrr my DH is not a favorite right now. Bringing home sickness and infecting us all!!!

I find its easiest to upload stuff to whatever your phone belongs to ... if its an Android, to your Google account (Picasa), or if its an iPhone, to your Apple phone account.

Decided what better time to use my Comp Time at work then to take tomorrow off. I'm so exhaustive, been unlucky and bless yesterday with monthly friend(hate that and always right before vacation). Anyway, it will give me time to pack and clean. No idea why I leave the house clean when I know Husband and Children will have it trashed when I get back.

Order a maid service for the day before you come back. I'm lucky my DH cleans when I'm gone ... but every once in awhile he gets the urge to rearrange furniture when I'm missing, which always is fun because then I'm bumping into the furniture since I'm still walking where it used to be for a few days ...

Yep, this exactly. Particularly on long flights ... because I usually take transpacific flights to get to and from home its always weird to me that sometimes the exact same flight to the West Coast can take 4 1/2 hours with good tail winds or 5 1/2 hours with bad head winds (and the longer ones are usually bumpy). Sometimes the pilots will even tell you they're going to go up to a different elevation than they were planning on in order to look for a better stream of air. They always plan on a standard time (usually towards the longer possible time frame) then sometimes are able to go faster, but they're not really "making up time". They would go faster even if there wasn't a gate delay ...

My DH stays up later than me, since I have to get up earlier. So that makes it even harder for me to go to bed by the 10:00 I really need.

My hubby and I work the same hours at the same place. He needs 8+ hours of sleep.....I need 5-6. I'm the one that tends to stay up till midnight

Well, the girl right next to me is fine, but her boyfriend beside her is obnoxious! Every other word out of his mouth is "F- this, f- that" and he keeps playing videos on his cell very loudly, that are not appropriate for the children all around us on the plane. And, and they are all over each other the whole flight. Oh well, less than an hour until I land!

I'm getting to that grandma stage where I'd ask him to stop with the swearing. Or get up and go talk to the flight attendant about it. When people swear all the time, I think sometimes they just forget what they're saying. Like that line from The Big Lebowski when the Stranger says "Do you have to use so many cuss words?" and the Dude says "What the f**k are you talking about?"

Based on the last test, it's strictly people who are arriving on DME those days. They actually put people at DME to sign people up. So if you are arriving those days but don't get your email you should still be able to try it.

Also, if some of your party is not on DME you may only be able to get FPs for some of them

Under any given set of conditions, it always takes more fuel to fly faster. But they'll do it if it helps their on-time arrival numbers, i.e. if they're late. Other times planes land ahead of time because of good winds or being able to depart early. I fly smaller planes quite frequently and we're early more often than not.

Well, today I ordered tickets for the one day my family is going to the dark side. It's not actually 10 business days (it's 9), but oh well. If worse comes to worse the housesitter can Fedex them. I might care more, but hey, I'm staying at Disney that day!
