Just got back from a Magical trip to the World. Our Cast consists of Myself, the planner and Disney Commando, DH, doesnt care what we do, my Mother, who has come on a few trips with us now and always loves what I have planned, Cameron 7 and Colton 4. This was their 7th & 6th trips respectively so they have a good grasp of the place. I wont go into dining reviews here as I posted them on the Restaurant Board. I also went into more detail about the resorts on the Resort Board.
This was our day to move to the Polynesian. I know we could have had our luggage sent through Bell Services, but we had to leave early anyway for our 8:00am PS and we found out Bell Services at ASSP doesnt start until 7:00. Plus we like to be checked in and have everything there so that when we return from a park we are all set with everything and can go straight to our room. So, we got up, got ready, finished packing and we lugged our luggage to the lobby all by 7:00am. This was the first morning it wasnt raining!!!! And it started a great trend for the rest of the trip(no more rain!). We then took a cab(van) to the Polynesian. We were able to check in with no line and everything went smoothly. Best of all we had our room request met, Samoa building with a balcony. We stored our luggage and hopped a monorail to the Contemporary to go have breakfast with Mickey and the gang at Chef Mickeys.
We got there right before our 8:00am PS and had a wonderful meal as always. Things went fairly quickly here and before long we couldnt eat another bite. We finally surrendered and hopped a bus to MGM. Im big on getting to the parks for opening, but I dont feel the need to get to MGM so early because most of the shows dont start up until 9:30-10:30 anyway. Thats why we usually do CMs on our MGM day, even though its not in the area. There is a method behind my madness.
We arrived at MGM around 9:30 and went to the Great Movie Ride. We got on here with no wait, but then once we were seated there was a slight delay, maybe 5-10 minutes for technical difficulties. This is a good ride to get in the MGM mood.
We then headed to Beauty & The Beast for the 10:30 show, but before going in I made a dash to Rock N Roller Coaster to pick up FPs for DH & I. We caught a bit of the opening act, Four For A Dollar, a very talented singing group, then the show began. No matter how many times I see B&TB, I still get a bit teary eyed.
Next it was on to the 11:30 show of Playhouse Disney. We arrived about 20 minutes early for this so we did have a wait here, but we could have arrived later had we wanted to. Cam thinks hes getting too old for this show, but none of us complain about an air conditioned place to sit for a while, even if it is on the floor.
It was now time for DH and I to ride RNR, which was awesome as always. The only reason thats not my favorite ride is because its too short. While on that DM and the kids went and got FPs for Voyage Of The Little Mermaid. They were for the very next show and by the time DH and I returned we just made it in time (DM would have taken the kids in if we hadnt made it).
After the show we were able to get FPs for the 1:35 show of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Although it wasnt too long until show time, the FPs worked well because instead of standing in line we were able to go take a walk through the "Walt Disney, One Mans Dream" exhibit. This is the "boring ride" to the kids, but we think its interesting...and they do have fun controlling the anamatronics.
We arrived back at Millionaire a few minutes before the show. The kids love this on tv (even though most of its over their heads) so going to the studio is a big deal for them. None of us made it to the hot seat but I still stand by the "my finger slipped to the wrong letter" excuse
After Millionaire, DH ran to Tower Of Terror for FPs, while the rest of us, went over to the Back Lot Tour entrance. I couldnt believe how many FPS we were using on this trip. They were really helpingus. We just missed the beginning of a BLT show, so we had maybe a 15 minute wait here for the next show. I think this was the first time we ever got in the front row and getting wet from the explosions felt good today.
It was now about 3:30, and since breakfast was so big, we still werent starving, but the only things we had left to do at MGM were Pizza Planet (the kids love it here and we figured we wouldnt want a big meal after that breakfast so that was the plan), and TOT for DH and I. If I remember right, our FP time was about 4:30-5:30, so we figured we would go ahead and eat and let the kids play in the arcade for a while to kill time while we waited. The kids had a ball as usual and then we were off to TOT.
DH & I tried desperately to get Colton on this with us since he was becoming a bit of a daredevil, but no luck. DH and I rode and then we had finished MGM. As much as I enjoy this park I find it difficult to make a plan here because so much does depend on the show times and FP return times and lines in general. Its hard to fit it all in to a plan, and I often find we do a lot of park criss- crossing here, but things seemed to go pretty smoothly for us here today. In fact, I expected us to be there until at least 6:00, probably more like 7:00 and yet we were on our way out at 5:15. We debated waiting around to do Indiana Jones again (we had done it Monday), but by that point, settling in our rooms and heading to the Poly pool seemed more appealing.
So, thats exactly what we did. Despite a few mishaps with our rooms not being up to par, key cards not working, and getting our chair and towel pooped on by a bird, sitting by the pool having a few drinks was the perfect way to end another great day in WDW. Boy was this week flying by.
