Food Glorious Food ....... or - Where we ate

'We' are....
Me & Steve
My mam & dad
Rachelle ( 8 ) & Annabelle almost 4

We're not a very adventurous family when it comes to food but we did manage to try a few new places this visit. In no particular order we dined onsite at

Cape May Dinner Buffet at Disney's Beach Club Nov 29th - mixed reactions to this. Lovely setting and nice to look around a new resort, especially with all the Christmas decorations up.

I enjoyed the meal but then I lurve peel and eat shrimp and DH loves all seafood. DM & DF prefer their meat and weren't overly impressed at the variety and the long lines at the buffet. The girls loved it cos they got to draw on the tablecloth with crayons. The desserts were excellent.

Princess StoryBook Breakfast Dec 5th- This was Annabelle's choice of venue for her 4th birthday. As usual we had to wait for ages to be seated but the girls had fun playing outside in their Belle dresses. For starters we had a huge yummy cinnamon 'cake' with loads of frosting (instead of the fruit and pastries we had last time) then a large skillet of cooked food - eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and potato (but no waffles any more) all washed down with OJ, apple juice & coffee. As usual we reordered eggs and bacon! The princesses came around at regular intervals and were very chatty. Rachelle had questions prepared for each of them so they spent a fair amount of time at our table.

For her birthday the server brought Annabelle a birthday card signed by all the Princesses and after her breakfast a Christmas Angel biscuit to decorate with edible icing and smarties ļ

This was great but she spent ages after our meal decorating it lol !!

Ice Cream Social Dec 5th- another birthday treat. I'd heard many good reports about this so maybe I was expecting too much but I wasn¡¦t overly impressed. Despite turning up in plenty of time we had to wait for ages to be seated again. The ice creams were good but we didn't see a character until we'd almost finished then they all came round at once and everything seemed really rushed. I managed to 'persuade' Dale (the final character) to stay for a while longer by telling him he was a much better dancer than Chip ( he then took the girls off round the restaurant for a jaunt) but the others it was just autograph-photo-bye. We'd been very lucky that all the other restaurants I'd booked had a note that we were celebrating a birthday and all except this had a little treat for the birthday girl.

Dinner @ Crystal Palace before MVMCP Dec 7th - Have to admit this was the one PS I was not 100% sure about. We¡¦d eaten here about 4 years ago and couldn't remember much about it (it had been that memorable lol!) When we arrived just after 5pm you couldn't move outside the restaurant - it was wall to wall people. I managed to find the line to check in for our PS and eventually got our bleeper (after many accidental line 'pusher in'ers who didn't realise that you needed a PS!) I expected (yet another) long wait but within 5 minutes we were called to our table. It was all decorated with streamers and confetti for Annabelle's birthday - I had made most of our PSs in one call and the CM had put her birthday on all our reservations bless him! Rachelle was not keen on a Winnie the Pooh character meal - she was 'too old for Pooh Bear'!!!!!!!!! but she soon relented and was first up to hug Piglet et al! Once again a birthday card signed by all the characters was brought for Annabelle and a cupcake with a candle on.

The buffet was one of the best we had on holiday ¡V the kids loved the rainbow bread and all the meat eaters amongst us were suitably fed and the desserts - well, let's just say I made more than one trip !

Thumbs up all round!

Last night Dinner at Ohana Dec 8th - our last night meal was an adult only affair. We booked the girls into the Neverland Club at Rachelle's request - Annabelle was old enough this year -hurrah!
After a cocktail in the lounge

we were seated at a table right at the entrance to the restaurant so not a particularly good view but it didn't spoil the food. (on the way in I noticed the signs said MK closing was at 6pm so I assumed the planned fireworks had been cancelled for that night and didn't request a window seat as originally intended) In case you hadn't gathered we all love our meat and this was voted one of our faves of the trip. I love the lime dressing on the salad and the meats and shrimp were gorgeous. It felt slightly rushed as it was quite busy but we ate our fill and wished we had room for more pineapple & caramel sauce lol! Afterwards we watched Wishes ¡V which I¡¦d thought had been cancelled - so it was a lovely end to the evening.

Offsite Eateries and on site snacks

Ponderosa ( by Formosa Boulevard & I-Drive) for breakfast – usual all you can eat fare, great for the whole family as every one can have what they like for not a lot of money!

Golden Corral on the 192 for dinner. Very busy, food not as good as last year but still good value for money.

Outback Steakhouse @ Formosa Boulevard The find of the holiday. Wish I’d managed to persuade the others to visit earlier in the trip !! Picked up their curbside collection menu on the way back from Epcot on Annabelle’s birthday then phoned an order through from the Villa (only 2 minutes drive away). Steve and Dad went to pick it up 15 minutes later (via the supermarket to top up on beers!). We had 2 large steaks, one shrimp pasta, one child’s meal and one blooming onion and with sides it was plenty for all of us – and only $55 !

We ate in various other small eateries and snackeries …… Earl of Sandwich @ DTD was very good, pastries @ Cypress Bakehouse in Seaworld, foodcourts at Belz (sandwiches), Premium Outlets (japanese) & Florida Mall (breakfast), San Francisco Pastry Co (cakes) & Schwabs (ice-cream sundaes) @ USF, Cosmic Rays’s @ MK, Backlot Express @ MGM and at the Villa courtesy of Publix lol !!

I honestly don’t think we had a bad meal the whole time. I wasn’t impressed with the Golden Corral and I think our least fave of the onsite meals was Cape May (but then that probably had something to do with eth fact it was our first night, we were tired, and I got the timings all wrong for our Illuminations Cruise so we spent a lot of time hanging around.) More reports on that to follow under 'special events & holiday happenings' ! :boat:

Lovely foodie reports I liked the rainbow bread and wonderful Birthday cake.
