Part 2
Still April 23, 2005. About 10 am

I should preface this by saying that we HATE Logan Airport in Boston with a passion. We spent roughly 6 hours there 5 years ago, and that experience still remains with us. This was our first flight from there post 9/11, and we were leery to say the least. Also, Boston traffic is an issue, so there were concerns about missing the flight, even though we left home with more than enough time to spare.

Having successfully killed about 2 hours, I put my shoes on and did the last check of my room to make sure I hadn’t forgotten anything. I hadn’t. So I sat down in the entryway, between luggage, to wait for Flightline. They, thankfully, were early. After the driver successfully navigated our driveway, turning around about 50 times (ok, 47) he finally got out to start loading the luggage. He, who looked as though he’d been driving for awhile, even commented on our baggage claim load of luggage. He then ran through a checklist of stuff with us to make sure we’d remembered the most important things, and we were off. I must admit the fact that he was driving down the middle of our road, was less than reassuring. But he got us to Boston without any issues, making a detour to pick up one more family on the way. I pity those poor souls. They too endured stepdad’s vacation dance. We got to Boston in fairly decent time, and the driver let us out at the American Airlines terminal. We then got in line, which amazingly had no one in front of us, and got checked in. Got through check in without any issues (a miracle for us), and headed for security. Made it through security without anyone setting off any alarms or being pulled aside for extra screening, and headed to the gateside foodcourt for lunch.
Got our first taste of Disney pricing when we bought lunch. $6 for a sandwich, and $2.50 for a bottle of water. Lunch at Logan cost us more than an average lunch in Disney did later in the week. While we were waiting we discovered that the all important Sudafed was in the checked luggage and I’d have to endure the side effects of Benadryl for this flight. We headed for the gate, where I proceeded to fall asleep, thanks to the Benadryl, while we waited and waited for our flight. About the time we were supposed to board we realized our plane wasn’t there yet (we’re not observant) and therefore we’d probably be delayed. Yup. We got out about an hour after we should have, which isn’t bad compared to our last Logan experience, but was still too late, when I was itching to get to Disney. We had a very bumpy flight due to the rain, but they showed Finding Neverland (didn’t watch it, I couldn’t focus in my Benadryl Stupor) but my sister and stepsister enjoyed it, and we made it to Orlando roughly half an hour behind schedule, though we did endure the bumpiest landing (I didn’t know planes could bounce like that) ever.
We headed for baggage claim and with a fairly short wait claimed all our bags and went for the rental car. Got the rental car, and we were finally on our way to Disney!
