Riiiiing
Its morning already. THE morning. Were going to be flag family. But were also going home. With mixed emotions we get dressed and head down to guest services in the lobby. Thats where were supposed to meet for our escort to the top. When we arrived though, there was a problem. Ahh yes, the flag family. Well you see it rained last night and the roof might be a big slippery. We dont want you falling off the roof. If you have time you can come back in an hour once the roof has had time to dry and well consider bringing you up, but for now you cant go.
Youve got to be kidding. Weve waited all week for this. Just to be turned down by rain. Alright well be back in an hour. Back to the villa to finish packing and have a pancake breakfast. I took a walk because I couldnt stand to watch everyone pack, and I cant eat much on days we fly. Definitely cant eat pancakes. My luggage was packed, stuffed actually, but I was ready, sort of, to head home. The rest of the family was lagging behind. It was on this walk that I realized my allergies had returned. This time I made sure the Sudafed was in my carry on. No more Benadryl naps for me.
Returned back to the villa in time to go back to the lobby. Since it hadnt rained in the last hour they decided to compromise with us. Theyd take us up for picture taking and what not but we couldnt put up the flags. They seemed to believe that it would rain again that day. When we flew out at 4 PM it was sunny and had not rained since the night before. Too bad they didnt believe the radar. Bruce told us you cant believe the radar in Florida. Here in NH, we cant trust any weather man, but weve never had a problem with the radar in Florida. Yup, were a little bitter. But hey, we did get to go up on the roof.
The roof was awesome. Bruce took us up through the concierge floor, then up the hidden staircase, to the roof. Even though it was cloudy the view was awesome. I just hope that I get to do this again someday, and actually get to raise the flags. We were up on the roof for at least half an hour, taking pictures and such. Bruce kept questioning my Disney trivia, since mom had said Im a Disney fanatic. She should have said though Im a Disney World fanatic. My trivia knowledge in general is slim.
When we came back down from the roof Bruce gave us a certificate, even though we didnt get to raise the flags. We then headed back to the villa so everyone else could finish packing and so we could get ready to clear out. It was at this time that stepdad realized we could check our luggage at the hotel, so we decided to do that. When we left the villa we headed straight for the counter in front of the hotel, checked our luggage, got our boarding passes, and were all set. It was easy, and made dealing with the airport much simpler. They moved our luggage to the airport for us, and we saw it again when we touched down in Boston, after an hour of musical baggage claim.
Having checked our luggage, with at least 5 hours still left before our flight we headed for Downtown Disney. Had lunch at Earl of Sandwich. Those sandwiches were great, and the price was too. After lunch we walked around for a few minutes, then realizing we were only prolonging the inevitable, we headed for the car. It was time to go home.
