Parks Game...taken to the next level??

I like your set up Higgs, when you finish the intro. would you mind E-mailing me it, I would love to read it. I think we should have the contrubutor bios in the back of the book.

BTW...I just wrote to WDW guest services to see if they could send me some sort of press kit about WDW.

I asked for anything they had on the resort's history and development...hoepfully, they can come through with some good stuf!!

I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything!

That's a good idea about the bios....once I'm done--I'll let everyone read it and see what they think...I'll get going as quickly as possible...

Higgs - great idea about getting an official Press Kit... I can't wait to read the introduction! Don't forget to send your info to me!

Higgs....

As for the book organization, I like the sections by park. There are other options as well:

Section on defunct attractions
Section on questions about numbers (the KSDave section!)
Sections by chronology...naw, too much like a history book!
And of course, an entire section on Horizons!

Thinking over it, dividing the book into sections by parks makes a lot of sense. After all, we have often talked about how the thread takes us on a virtual tour of the parks...the book would basically do the same thing.

Maybe we should leave out the section on "family spats"! ;)

I agree on leaving out the 'family spats', we dont want anyone to think were disfunctional!;) mrs.a did you get my info?

My thoughts exactly...and I never thought about a seperate section on defunct attractions...that is a great idea! :)

And I agree about leaving out the family spats...no one outside of the PG would get it...

We definitely need the section on the defunct attractions. It will give the "newbies" to WDW some perspective on the views of us oldtimers. Also, it will let other oldtimers relive their previous visits from the perspective of different sets of eyes. (And we'll get to relive Horizons!!).
We may need to start talking more about the resorts on the thread to give the book a good tie-in. That is such a big part of the overall WDW experience. Even DTD and the water parks should get some attention, IMHO.
By the way, I'm up to my entrance into the original Parks Game thread on my copying. I had to laugh today when I read magical4u's question on Part Deux: "Horizons and Carousel of Progress share something...what is it?".
My first question on the original thread on 11-16-2001: "OK, I have one. Not sure if this has already been asked. There were two WDW attractions that feaured the song "It's a great big beautiful tomorrow". One was COP. What's the other?"
Amazing how we come back to the same things after a while.

LOL Dave...why do you think I ask "Summer Rerun" questions sometimes???

Some questions are too good to only ask once...and besides, sometimes the game needs to be moved along, and I can't think of any question...I figure there are always enough newbies whov haven't seen the question the first time around to make it worth asking again....:)

YES!!! A tribute to Walt Disney World's *gone but not forgotten* attractions is a MUST!!! (plus don't like 50% of our questions have either COP or Horizon's as an answer ;) )

I like the idea of dividing in into the parks - then I think you may want to put misc. (and maybe hotel questions can go there) I mean we could always save the hotel questions for the second book...

Higgs- I would love to read your intro too if you don't mind...

Ok - so back to the *image* situation...we can't use Disney copywritten pictures (understandably so) but if anyone comes across something (like a picture of a Dole Whip) feel free to send it to me!

That is really funny about the rerun question....

Hey Dave - if I am not mistaken - I *Christened* the guard shack as the *Love Shack* but somehow Adaddy got the credit for it - could you let me know when you come across that part??

I've re-read the Love Shack part a while back, and my recollection is that ADaddy got credit for asking such a good, tough question. I agree that he didn't name it the Love Shack, but I think the credit he gets is for the question, not the naming. Like so many things on the thread, the results of a collaboration are better than any one poster's comments! The naming honors are, if I recall correctly, all yours madonna.

I like the idea of resorts trivia as well since they are part of The World. I'm just thinking that the moderators would finally move the PG thread if it got too much resort information. The easy answer is to start up a Resorts Game thread, but I don't know if that could sustain itself. Maybe we just seed some resort questions in the PG thread from time to time so it's main focus is still the parks?

Or I guess we can do a Resorts Game thread as a "last resort". (groan, groan....you just had to get that one in there, didn't ya!)

ADaddy got credit for asking such a good, tough question.

Now I thought it was Kimpossible who asked the question...???

A word of caution about getting into the *resort* side of it...there already is a *resort* thread - in fact that's how supermaki came up with the idea for the parks game thread...I just don't want anyone to think that we *stole* their questions for profit...

Man - we haven't even started - I don't want to get sued now...

"Last resort..." LOL!!
I've gotta say, I'm not on the up-and-up on Resort Trivia, but I know there's tons of miscellaneous trivial facts that we can insert on the PG thread to spice things up a little.
Distriv - I got your info, thanks! I already have a manila file folder, neatly labelled, with his info tucked safely away.
Yay! Look at my countdown clock!

I envey you mrs.a, I have to wait till Febuary to go but Mission: Space might be having a soft opening!:teeth:

I may not get back online to say it, so......

HAVE A GREAT TIME, mrs.a

Yes...Have a great time Mrs A!!!

BTW...I heard back from WDW...They gave me a phone number to call for all press info...I am going to call Thurs. or Fri. morning...hopefully they can send me some good stuff :)

Higgs, while you are talking to them, ask them if it is acceptable for us to use pictures we have taken ourselves in WDW. I would think that, as public a place as WDW is, that it would fall under the "Public Domain" laws for copyright, etc. I mean, look how many people have published books and websites with pictures of the World Trade Center, Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, etc. I am sure those places are not protected by copyright laws. So, why would WDW?

Dave...I'll ask...but the only thing I think of is that WDW is private property, so Disney might control the publishing rights to any images taken on their property no matter who takes the photo....
those other places are on public property, and then I think anything goes, but it is different on private property...

I think that's why the unofficial guides don't have pictures...we may have that problem too, which is a bummer--but not something that we can't overcome...

Thanks Ksdave and Higgs! I shall have an Absolutely Fabulous time! I have already packed, repacked, and checked my packing list three times... my batteries are charged (for the camcorder) and I'm ready to go!!
What about "artist renderings" of some photos (crudely drawn comical offshoots of real photos) if we can't get the photographics rights from Disney? That could be *Interesting*!

madonna, this bothered me to think my memory was that bad so I went and found the Love Shack part of the first thread. Here's the link: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=96562&perpage=15&pagenumber=47 It's the 7th post on the page, and ADaddy even called it a softball!!

While digging for this, I also came across what I think was the first reference to the magic number (your favorite, I know). (that's sarcasm...sorry) Apparently, ADaddy again was first to bring this into the thread... http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=96562&perpage=15&pagenumber=43 Please see his guess in the middle of the page for the number of tiles!
