Parks Game! Part 6! Keep Playing! You Can't Stop Now!

I'll third the cynical reason as well...since very little actual production work (outside of animation) goes on at Disney/MGM Studios anymore....

I am going to take a nice lesurely ride on the WDWRR.....

MBabe heads to the Train Station....

As I approach the WDWRR Train Station I see that my train is headed by Engine #3. What name is on Engine #3? What is significant about the person it is named for? And how long will my round trip take?

All aboard....

:smooth:

Your 20 minute trip will be pulled by the Roger E Broggie, named after noted imagineer and railroad fan, Roger Broggie. Roger helped Walt Disney with his personal model train, and also supervised the purchase and restoration of the Disney engines.

:earseek: Wow!

carpedm... you hit that one clean out of the park !

Engineer's hat AAQ card to carpedm :bounce:

You're up.... next question please :)

:smooth:

Since we are already on the railroad, here's another one...

Category: Traveling Engine

Name the only railroad engine to make it's way over to Epcot.

Hint: It may not have made it over to Epcot on it's own power though.

There are two possibilities. One is in the World of Motion there was a train engine. Also, I read online that the Ward Kimbel engine was at Epcot for a short while. Whow knows, may the engine in World of Motion was named the Ward Kimball?

:Pinkbounc Time to form the conga line. Would PM lead the way to the Whiperitas please!! :Pinkbounc

In keeping with the train theme...here is another one.

What are the names of the trains on BTMRR (Big Thunder Mtn RailRoad)?

Did someone say Conga? I had a pitcher of margs here a minute ago...hey, now that I think about it, Pete did say he needed to "take care" of something....:smooth:

Let's start the conga back in Mexico...we need another pitcher o' margs!!! :jester:

Good job PHowell!

Engine #5, the Ward Kimball, was displayed in Epcot in February of 1998. The engine was named for the famed animator and railroad enthusiast who served as a consultant on the Disneyland railroad engines. Engine 5 is a Davenport 2-4-4RT acquired by Disney in 1995.

A steam engine AAQ to PHowell

Pirate....no idea....how about the Tumbleweed Express?

and on the MGM rationale, I had read that Disney noticed the popularity of the West Coast studio tours and wanted to do the same in California. But they were landlocked at Disneyland and didn't have room to expand. So they did it in Orlando....and if I'm not mistaken, Universal Studios and Disney Studios opened in quick succession there in Orlando, didn't they?

PM: The trains are

U.R. Courageous
I.M. Brave
I.M. Bold
U.R. Fearless
I.B. Hearty
U.R. Daring

Switching gears:
The Sherman Brothers in addition to writing many songs for Disney movies, also wrote many songs for the theme parks. Name songs written by the brothers for WDW. This includes past attractions.

Granny : Good point. Disney MGM and Universal opened about the same time but I think the plans for MGM were brought to the forefront when Universal announced it would open its park in Florida. Disney tried to beat them to it.

Pam...U. R. Correct...:smooth:

Another AAQ to PHowell...look out...she's on a roll!!!

I know one of their songs is the infamous, It's A Small World.

I'm surprised they would admit that. ;)

Edited to also add:
The Enchanted Tiki Room song
Carousel of Progress song

Pam...

The Tiki Tiki Tiki Room
Let's all sing like the birdies sing (Tiki Room)
It's a small world after all
The best time of your life (CoP)
Great big beautiful tomorrow (CoP)
One little spark (JII)
Makin' memories (Magic Journeys)
Magic journeys (Magic Journeys)

:)

:bounce: Wow! Here are several melodic AAQ cards each to carpedm and MBabe. :Pinkbounc

However, there are still two songs that my source list as Sherman brothers. Both are past attractions.

EDITED: Another little bit of knowledge. Both brothers say that Makin Memories was their favorite song written for the parks.

Did some further searching and one of them appears to have been at Disneyland, but Disney World had a version (which may or may not have played this song). So, if anyone gets that song then it is a bonus. If not, then I will just answer it myself later.

I think they also did the music for Innoventions, and Rocket Rods in Disneyland. Not sure of the song titles though.

:Pinkbounc A fast-flying AAQ card to carpedm. The Sherman Brothers did indeed write a song called Magic Highways for the Rocket Pods at Disneyland. Does anyone know if the song was used at WDW when they introduced the Star Jets? (Sorry all, I never got there before the New Tomorrowland.) :Pinkbounc

The last one is definitely in WDW and is a past attraction.

Pam...did they write "Magic Journeys" for the Fantasyland Theatre?

Edit to add:: And I think they wrote "New Horizons" for...what else, Horizons.
