Parks Game - Part 13 - Still PLAYING!

Watch who you are calling old, sonny :rotfl:

And DisneyJen comes through. Horizons it was (where is Horizons16 anyway?) A nostalgic AAQ to you, Jen.

And if I remember correctly, wasn't the Parks Thread started in response to the craziness of 9/11, as a way to take everyone's mind off of it? I think I found the thread not too long after it started.

Hey ... I resemble that first remark:lmao:

You are correct that the thread was started a week after 9/11 occurred as a way to escape to our happy place.

Turning in the nostalgic AAQ to keep us moving along ...

Where do you hear a page for Tom, Mr. Tom Morrow?

Whose dog is the dog in the Carousel of Progress modeled after?

wagster92, I'll take a lazy swing at that one and say Walt Disney. Probably wrong, but I've had a long day of work with a 5 hour commute to Texas and six + hours of work.

Sandy;
Yes, the Parks Game thread was used to escape the horrors of 9/11. I remember first finding it about a week after it started and "meeting" WDWoldtimer, Higgs, you, DisneyJen, Madonna, etc. There was one point where we would go through 15-20 pages in a day! That was back when they limited each thread to 150 pages max, so that's how we ended up with "Part 13".
(PS: Glad to see you still have your WDWWDS title in your avatar area! :thumbsup2).

ksdave, your lazy swing paid off, a well deserved AAQ to you!

Wow, I guess I am more awake than I thought.

Here's my oldy-moldy question:

In what year did General Electric (GE) drop its sponsorship of Horizons?

Sometime in the 80's?

Too bad threads aren't like that anymore, I discovered an acient thread that was started when this site was first put up, it went through the 150 page limit several times and was at like 500+ when I last looked at it a year ago, unfortunately I think it died out.

Let's take another stab at this. How about... 1993?

We have a winner! GE pulled its sponsorship from Horizons in 1993.

A futuristic AAQ to you, plutospup!

Hey ... I resemble that first remark:lmao:
[/B]

Jen - that wasn't aimed at you. It was for Wagster's remark about old timers :lmao:

(PS: Glad to see you still have your WDWWDS title in your avatar area! :thumbsup2).

I display that as a badge of honor. Btw, some of the old WDWWDS crowd are still around. The only one I lost track of is OT.

Patiently waiting for plutopup to wake up and ask the next question.

Jen - that wasn't aimed at you. It was for Wagster's remark about old timers :lmao:

No worries Sandy ... the shoe fits:goodvibes albeit an old shoe:rotfl2:

Someone want to cash in an old AAQ while we wait for plutopup?

I'll give it a shot to keep it going.

There is one backstage area of the World Showcase that had to be covered up. Where is it, what was done and why?

It's a ride that was boarded up, I think its maybe in America?

Wow, I had no clue what I was joining when I started posting on this thread! It's a nice way to pass the time though!

Hmmm...maybe Italy? I seem to recall that there was to be an attraction where you rode in gondolas, but was cancelled before construction. Or maybe that was Canada. Or both. Heck, I can't remember. But I'm so happy the Game is back in business! :woohoo:

If were talking behind the scenes like actually hiding things theres a generator behind Canade

I think wagster92 is on to something. Isn't there a wall in Canada that can be seen from throughout World Showcase. I think they put some type of facade on it to blend in with the Canadian theme.
