Interesting tidbit, if you walk by POTC and it is closed and you go up and ask the line attendant "What's wrong?" they usually shrug their shoulders. A CM friend of mine used to work on this attraction and said if the last person out the night before didn't say "Goodnight George" the next day, NO DICE as far as getting an operable ride for any long length of time! Everytime I go on POTC I tell my family to all say "Thank you George, Goodnight" or similar in an effort to appease said spirit!

Ha ha I brought up George in my fiction class yesterday! We were discussing Irving's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" for Halloween, and I mentioned the story of George as an example of the continuing power of folk tales amidst an ostensibly science-based culture. Way to go George, you've made it into my pedagogy!
