Parks closing due to overcrowding

I've booked a Fantasmic package for Christmas Day eating at the Brown Derby followed by Fantasmic show. I'm worried about what happens if the park is really busy (as its Christmas Day!) and closes before we were due to go in late afternoon.

Does anyone know if we would still be allowed in as we have a dinner package booked? Has this ever happened to anyone??

Thanks

As far as I am aware once closed that means closed to anyone including those who have an ADR. Saying that the Studios may not get as busy as say MK. It may be worth getting to the park earlier in the day to be certain of entry.

I don't know for sure but I think I would tend to disagree with Claire as if you have booked an ADR for that day (esp. Fantasmic, as you pay a deposit up front) then they are obliged to let you in. If you think about it, what sort of message would they be sending if they turned you away.

I'm sure someone will be along who knows for definite though.

Oh didn't know you now pay a deposit for Fantasmic Dinner Package may be different then, but for a regular ADR, it may still be a no/no, as you can imagine how many ADR's there must be in each park.

Have a read of this thread. Looks like a deposit is no guarentee.

Unless you are staying in a Disney resort, there is no guarantee of admission (even with an ADR/deposit).

If the park is closed because it has reached capacity then no one is let in, wherever your staying or whether you have an ADR - the closure is for safety reasons.
Although MK is the most popular park on Xmas day, the Studios isn't a big park, and so the capacity will be lower.
The only way to guarantee entry on Xmas day is to arrive early.

We had an ADR booked for Crystal Palace for 4pm for Easter Sunday 2004 for which we had to pay a deposit. When we were booking this, the CM advised us to get to the park early as if they closed the gates we would not be admitted. We duly got to MK early in the day, I am VERY glad we did as on the TV the next day it said they closed the gates at 1pm.

Just to say that we went into MGM on Christmas day back in 2003 and we were suprised at just how quiet is was. We went later on inbetween 1-2pm and got in without any problems. We are considering going to MGM again this Christmas day:Pinkbounc

Actually, Disney close the park to new guests way before it reaches the legal/"safe" maximum capacity. At this stage ("level 1") Disney resort guests are the only people allowed admittance. It is only when level 4 is reached that the park is shut to all - and this an extremely rare occurrence.

Thanks everyone, it sounds like I might be alright as its MGM and we are staying on site. I'll still worry though till we actually get in and I'll be crossing my fingers and toes till then. ::MinnieMo
