We are booked for September 19-27. Usually September has lower crowds than normal. Provided that MNSSHP follows previous years and ends up being on that first Sunday, we plan on making our first day at MK hoping for lower crowds (not attending MNSSHP) I wanted to relax more in this vacation. Take in what Disney has to offer rather than making a ride plan and running from one ride to the other hoping to get it all in. IYO do you think I could schedule my 3 FP in advance and leisurely explore Fantasyland without having to wait in line most of the day? We will be visiting MK at least 3 days in this trip because I really want to walk into the park with no plan and let the kids pick where they want to go.

Sure, it's doable but rope drops will likely be your best friend. 8:45 - 10 am is the best friend for those not having a plan who wants/needs to ride things standby. If you are skipping rope drop, you can still make it happen but your attraction selection will be more limited.

The crowds will be "small", but the popular attractions will still likely see waits build to 30-45 minutes for things like Space Mnt, Splash Mnt, Thunder Mnt, Tomorrowland Speedway, Winnie the Pooh, Cinderella & Rapunzel m&g, etc. Mine Train, Anna & Elsa, Peter Pan all might even have waits at or exceeding an hour.

But, we went during similar crowds this year a couple times and we hardly waited more than 20 minutes standby for just about anything. I think the key for you is not NOT plan, but plan and just keep your plans flexible and leisurely by nature...For example.

Arrive at Magic Kingdom at 8:20 for an 8:45 opening and head to Fantasyland for Pooh, Peter Pan, Enchanted Tales with Belle, Ariel Meet & Greet, Little Mermaid Ride, Barnstormer, Petes Silly Side show then maybe your FP+ at say Mine Train..then go get some lunch at something nearby.

After lunch, schedule your Splash Mnt and Thunder Mnt FP+ back to back (1 - 2 and 2-3) and plan on doing the first one at the very end of the time window then the other one at the very start of the time window.
