Parking with Magic Band?

If I check-in online for my Disney resort, can I use my magic band to park for free at DHS without going to the resort first?

I've had instances of the Magic Band not working at the payment booth and they just waved us through when we told them that we were staying on-site. If the MB doesn't work and OP explains the situation, I think there's a good chance they'll be waved through.

A little OT, my DD has an AP and just shows her band at the booth. They don't scan it or anything, just wave her through. Yet her roomie with the same level AP has to show his hard card every time. Any clue as to why?

Don't know what that is but hers looks no different than mine (I don't have an AP).
