Parking Ticket outside our house!!! Furious!!!

I am spittin' mad!!! The disgusting council in which I live not only did not warn us they were making changes to the parking areas around here but put up a new sign this afternoon saying we couldn't park in certain areas on our street and gave every car that was already parked there a £40 fine!!!

The signpost went up at 1.30pm and the ticket was issued 1 hour later! It's just disgusting...and its not about the money (although £40 at today's exchange rate would buy us both breakfast at the Crystal Palace but never mind!) its the principle of the thing, its wrong what they are doing.

I wrote to the Council (Haringey council, we live in Muswell Hill) and sent an email to my MP for what that is worth. I'm targeting the tabloids tomorrow although i'm sure they get emails like mine by the thousands each day.

I'm starting to think we need to move out of London, its just getting too stressful...

That is terrible ~ if they insist on you paying begin the dispute process, keeping full written details of everything, and hopefully the independent board that reviews this will see sense. I got a parking ticket parked in a private church car park where i worked at the time, out of the 46 cars parked there I was the only one with a ticket, I disputed it took evidence etc and won the warden was deemed to have ticketed incorrectly in an area over which he had no durisdiction (did I spell that right). Don't give in a pay it challenge the legality of it! Good luck

They have done the same here - changed the rules without notice - when challenged they said it had been announced in the local paper - those boring announcements no one ever reads!
I`m forever seeing people get tickets on a street next to the one I live in and as this is a tourist area - what a great souvenir of your holiday!
Did you see that programme with Fiona Phillips? She ignored her parking fine and ended up paying £600 after the baliffs had been round - what a world we live in!

The bigger problem is that the job of a Traffic Warden is now being (in the most part) by private companies. The staff work on quotas; the more tickets you issue the more money you make. The councils are happy to add new parking restrictions as it means they'll get more revenue from the fines. The companies that employ the wardens are also laughing at the money they're raking in. It makes you wonder what happened to change this country from being a world power 60 short years ago

Exactly - we don't have either a national or local paper. Surely local residents are allowed a permit aren't they? Good luck with your fight.
