should the parking situation at the Broadwalk Inn be of major concern for those with cars?? I can get a BB FD offer at BWI. But the alert on Disney website about limited parking spaces there worries me. We will be traveling mid of August for 5 nights and will have a car. Don't want to pay valet everyday. TIA

It is quite a walk from the car park to the hotel if you have any mobility issues. We do valet parking there.

I have never had an issue and we stay there a lot including this past April after they started sending out the "limited parking" letter. It's a hike, but never had an issue finding a spot.

I've stayed there twice with a car and not had an issue. We park the car and never take it out again the whole trip so I can't speak for leaving and coming back. We normally arrive around 2:30 or 3 and both times we found a space about 3 spaces over in the front of the lot. As others have said, even being in the front of the lot it can be a hike, we were actually in the studios and as luck would have it, our room was one of the ones nearest the parking lot, which made it great if we wanted to run something to car but the arrival and walking the luggage to the front was a bit of a hike. I would recommend dropping the luggage off first and then parking the car. I learned my lesson the first time and actually left the luggage in the car and after I found out where my studio was, went and got it.

I got this picture from Google. Is the parking lot on the bottom right hand corner?? I guess we have a year to strengthen our leg muscles to get ready for the walk.... :jester::jester:

We've stayed at BWI at least twice since the parking alert has been out and have had no problem with parking. We arrive on a Sunday afternoon usually around 3pm. We park in the parking lot that, on the above map, is where it says "Disney's Boardwalk Resort". We usually are able to get in one of the first couple rows. We exit the parking lot, walk across the street to what I believe is another conference center, which on this map is incorrectly labeled "Disney's Boardwalk Villas", and then slightly uphill along the BWI building to the lobby. I don't think it takes even 5 minutes. I'm 60 years old and I can easily walk it, even with luggage in tow.

I believe where you have the blue dots is the conference center parking.

If I am understanding this map correctly, I think it is not labeled very well, shame on Google.

I find it odd they didn't build adequate parking for the resort.

It's not only BWI & BWV, but for someone just trying to visit the Boardwalk itself is turned away when trying to park. I have a real problem with that.

Going there at the end of the month. Renting a car also. If I remember, I will report back after my vacation.

The times I've had a car there, I usually parked where it says Disney's Boardwalk Resort. Not that much farther than the bus stop. Weekends are busier but I didn't have problems during the week.

That's funny. They label the BWInn the BWVillas and the BW resort is the parking lot. That is usually the lot for conventions if there are any. The smaller lot where the 5 Min note is located is the valet lot and lot for BWVilla guests. You can barely see the overflow lot across the street on this map. And they have moved the Boardwalk Bakery to the bus stop, I guess.

I don't get the whole 'it's a hike' argument. It's the same at YC/BC, WL, AKL, etc. There is plenty of parking...for those staying there. Yes, parking has been compromised, a bit, during the BW rehab. But once that's over, there shouldn't be an issue.

Since the main lobby is on the second floor of the building, you have to hike up the hill from the parking lot which is actually below the first floor. That can be harder if you have luggage, groceries, kids in your arms.

The YC/BC may be a long walk, but it's not uphill. Jambo House and WL are a bit uphill, too. But it's more gradual. Just long if you park in the wrong spot.

Any idea when the rehab will be done??

We learned our lesson from our recent stay at AKL. Upon arrival it was rainy and we didn't know we could drive to the front of the lobby. Instead, we parked (luckily the space was near), dragged our two kids and luggages... DH couldn't find the handicap access so he walked around to the bus stop then back, with our luggage in the rain.. He was not happy especially after 20 hours of drive. We also went to BC for dinner at Cape May. There was a bit of walk from the parking lot to the building. But the area was pretty so we didn't find it a hike. I guess the same will apply at BWI. When you are in Disney, a hike is not a hike but a scenic walk. :hyper2:

Is the self-parking STILL below the valet parking? Last visit the self-park was at the BACK of the parking lot. Hope this has changed for our visit in Sept. Our mistake was not leaving me, with the luggage, at the entrance while DH parked the car at the back. It was tiring hauling our stuff from down there, uphill, in the heat. It didn't feel very "deluxe". We had better parking the night before at the moderate where we stayed. I really didn't understand why the valet parking could not have been at the back since the attendants move the cars and also ride in golf-carts to get them. :sad2:

This is a perfect description of the my parking experience as well....there is a path beside the conference center that goes to the bus stop that cuts down the walk significantly to the lobby

Yep, valet parking is the prime parking spots. And you'll see loads of empty spaces in that area, and every other parking place full.

I stayed at BWI a few years ago and was always able to park in the area where it says "Disney's Boardwalk Resort" on the map. From there, it isn't a hike to the main building. But if you're parked in one of the further lots, yeah, it could be a hike. But it wouldn't be any more of a hike than walking around a theme park for an entire day.

It isn't a good way to start a park day. This trip we want be doing a park the first day there since we opted to spend our drive-down night at BWI this trip instead of a value or moderate. Although, after a 9 hour drive it might not be much fun hiking it either.
