Parking rates at Chicago Midway?

We flew out of Bloomington, IL last year on Airtran, and were planning on it again this year. I decided for kicks tonight to look at Midway, and they have fares for $67 each way. It would be a 3 hour drive, but would save us over $900 for the 8 of us than Bloomington would. Bloomington offers free parking, and I know Midway does not, but I have been unable to find any idea of what we might pay for parking for 9 days. Any information, or about Midway in general? We've never flown out of there. Thanks in advance.

Per the Midway website, the long term lots/economy lots are now at $14 a day and the garages are about $30 a day (not the hourly garages, those are like $50 a day :scared1:). There are external lots a few blocks away run by private companies that offer a shuttle to the airport. I believe they run about $10 a day from my past experience. Happy planning, hope this helps! :)

Thanks! I had found that same $14 rate later after I posted the message. Do you have experience with the economy lots? Do you feel security is adequate?

Midway is a super easy airpor to navigate and easy to get to. We always use Midway Park Ride and Fly. I love that they drop you off right at the door. :) Last time we paid about $8.75 a day + fees after booking online which is cheaper than onsite airport parking.

We have never done this but we are doing it this month...(if anyone has an experience please let me know)...there are quite a few airport around Midway that have stay and park for free for up to 14 days. A good number of them offer a free 24 hour shuttle. We leave at 6:10 am and we are also 3 hours away so we want to ge there the night before. The hotels ranged from $100-$200 but that is for a nights stay, some have breakfast, a shuttle to the airport and parking for up to 14 days. We have flown out of Midway and done the off-site parking and had no problems either. :dance3:

I've never used the economy lots on property at Midway. I fly out of Midway for vacations and work and I usually use the Park, Ride, Fly external lot that another poster suggested. That was very secure in my experience and I have not had a problem leaving my car there. Service was very prompt as well in picking us up from the baggage claim.

We've also used a couple offsite companies and been pleased with the service. Plus it's a lot cheaper than parking at the airport. I wouldn't necessarily recommend them for a single traveler flying alone at night (it was kind of creepy waiting alone at night for the van, then driving to this deserted parking lot with someone I didn't know), but overall I've had good experiences. If you've never driven to Midway before, leave plenty of time as there is ALWAYS a back up on 55 right around the exit.

If you are driving up the night before and staying in a hotel, just be aware that parts of the neighborhood are a little unpredictable at night, so don't plan on walking anywhere for food. I would get a place with on-site dining. Overall it's fine, but it's not Disney!

Thanks for all the information. I checked out the Park, Ride and Fly, and it looks very good, and has nearly impeccable reviews. Can't wait to go!

You didn't say when you are going but if it is before 3/31 you can use code TAKEABREAK11 for 10% off if you pre-book 3 days or more. Every little bit helps. I suggest that you create an account so that they can send you email specials. I get them about once a month. :)

Midway Park Ride & Fly.

Best thing ever!!!! We used them with absolutely NO problems, only good things to say!

And, if you sign up online, you get 1 free day for every 10 you stay with their reward program. Plus, you get 5 credits just for signing up. I can't wait to use them again!

They literally pick you up in the lot at your car, help you with your luggage, and then drop off at the door. To pick up, you simply call when you have your bags, they tell you where to walk out and wait, and within 2 minutes, you are on your way back to the lot. And then they drop you right back off at your car again.

I was very impressed. After having to pay for the economy lot at Ohare and walk a half mile to the the shuttle and wait for 15 minutes, this seemed like parking perfection!
