Parking Question

Good morning folks;

I have a quick question about parking. I am arriving on Saturday August 14th, at around 12:30am and I decided we're not going to get a hotel room for this night, instead we're going to go drive around Northern LA, around Hollywood and Burbank for a little bit to just check things out for an hour or two, and then we would go straight to the convention center to begin waiting to get in, probably arriving around 4am or so, maybe later, and maybe just nap in the car for awhile. My question is, what time do parking areas begin to open, and do you think the hotel would let me park there (for the typical charge) early, even though I'm not checking in there until that afternoon/evening (Marriott Suites on Harbour).

Thanks!

You should call the hotel. The issue may not be whether or not their policy allows you to park there, but whether or not there is a space available. Some of the smaller motels on Katella and Harbor have small lots and the previous night's guests would still be parked at 4am. Also, napping in the car is not really just parking, they may also take issue with that.

I agree that your best bet is to call the hotel and ask them what they parking policies are; my guess is that if there is space in the lot, you can pay the parking fee and park in the lot. However, I would guess that they would frown on sleeping in your car. My other guess is that valet would probably be able to take your car whenever you arrive, but I would call to confirm that.

Hollywood and Burbank are not "northern LA" they are rather more central. What is it you expect to see at night? Where are you flying in from?

I am also confused where the convention center (ACC?) comes into play with the Anaheim Suites? Where did you propose to wait and what is it you are waiting for?

I should have clarified, I don't plan on sleeping in the car after I drop it at the hotel, that was just something I was considering doing for an hour or so before I dropped it at the hotel to park. Regardless, not important :p I will have to give the hotel a call to check out their policy. I assumed it would be fine too, just wanted to see if anyone had any experience on this.

GoBears, I appologize for my shaky geographical terminology for the Los Angeles area.. Not expecting to see much, just go take a cruise around, as we've never been in the area. Drive by the Chinese Theater, etc. Well, The Marriott Suites Anaheim is where I'm staying, and the Convention Center is going to be hosting the D23 Expo...

I would also add in that, at that time of night, I don't know how much you'll actually see...

Most of the hotels in Anaheim have security so you will need to get permission to park early but napping won't be OK and it's not the safest area to nap in the car beyond the happy zone around DL. Why not get a room at the cheapest place you can find in the area just to get a few hours sleep to better enjoy your next day? There are places in the $75-100 range.
