We are traveling soon to WDW and had a Handicap Parking question. There will be 2 families in 2 cars. One of the cars will have a handicap individual as a passenger. The children from both families will want to ride all the boys in one car and all the girls in the other. The handicapped individual is nervous that we could be split up at parking. He is curious as to whether we would be allowed to park together or close enough that the group not in the handicap van would not have to ride the tram.

TIA.

Hmmmm...I'm thinking that only the car with the Handicapped Pass will be allowed to use a handicapped parking space. The other car will most likely be directed to the parking area. If it's far enough away to have to use the trams, I would just arrange to meet up at the front gates of the park. You can always check in by cell phone if you can't find each other. Have a good trip!:)

The Orange County Sheriff's Offfice patrols the parking lots and will issue citations to vehicles without handicap plates or hang tags that are parked in disabled parking.

However, there is normally one space at the start of each row (at the tram lane) where the parkers will direct a car when there are special needs but without a tag. When you get there you can ask for that space and the other car will just park further down on the row. Note, however, that if a wheelchair is involved it will be impossible to use the tram.

And, as Luv Bunnies suggested, you can just use cell phone or arrange to meet at a specific location.

I agree with what Luv Bunnies said. It would not be hard to arrange to meet at the tram stop and for MK and Epcot you park at TTC and can meet at the tram stop. A cell phone definitely would be a benefit. At TTC the disabled walk a long the road where the trams are so follow the tram to the tram drop off. Animal Kingdom you walk right to the entrance and on the left is the trams. I do not remember the Studios but vaguely remember walking near the tram drop off also.

Thanks for the info. I have already suggested the cell phone idea. My family has been to Disney many times as we use to live in Florida and are not the least intimidated by it and understand how great it is there. The other family has a member recently confined to a wheelchair and they get a little overwhelmed in new situations. I think I will ride in their car to the park so I can be of assitance and to ease the worries of getting from the lot to the gates. Thanks for all your help.
