Parking Question

I'm from MA too and also doing the free dining instead of DVC points.

My total for resort (All Star Movies), food, 1 base ticket each, and airfare for 2 adults/1 child for 5 nights is $1301.78.

It works for us this time anyway.

US TOO! We are paying $486 for 4 nights at Pop (which we like), 2 one-day tickets that we'll put towards our AP renewal later (which we would've had to pay for anyhow in October) and free dining for 4 nights for 2 adults. This was a no brainer for us. So now instead of 3 trips to WDW this year, we are going 4 times this year. And the best part is we didn't have to use our points. This trip did not take the place of our 2 weeks that we are at the WLV in October. :cool1:

I own at OKW, but this upcoming vacation I have decided to take advantage of the free meal plan and pay to stay at the All Star Movies. My question is can I park at The Wilderness lodge and take the Ferry Boat over to MK or can just the guests at the resort have access to the boat? The buses at the All Stars I think will be packed, plus it is a nice little boat ride to the MK form the Wilderness. Thanx for the help.

Why don't you drive to the TTC, take the bus to WL, take the boat to the MK and then take the monorail back to the TTC? It sure wouldn't be boring!!

We get free valet parking, and I've asked here, "Do you mean, that I go to the guard at the gate, tell them I'm DVC and that I want to valet park, and they will let me do it?" The answer I got is "yes." So, why can't the OP do that at VWL?

Free valet parking at other DVC resorts is a very nice perk. It allows Members to visit these other DVC locations to dine and shop..

However there are signs at the resorts near the parks that state, They do not provide parking to access the parks.

I am sure some will say that does not include valet, but I say why take advantage of a very nice perk, that if overused or abused will be taken away.

For one thing I seriously doubt that someone that valets to access a park is only going to be there for a couple of hours. If the valet lots begin to overcrowd with DVCers staying for long periods of time, Disney is going to figure out where they are.

We've driven over to W.L. on our last day and valet-parked free while we had breakfast at Whispering Canyon, and then hopped over to M.K. for a couple of hours before heading home. No problems with it. But would we drive over to W.L. to park just to go to the MK? Nope - but because we had ADR's for breakfast, we felt like it would be fine. Of course we generously tipped both parking and departing as we always do with valet-parking even when we've paid for it. FWIW, the first time we did that, we used the DDE parking perk, and we've only done this at the Wilderness Lodge.

I know that some will flame me for saying this but...

You are a DVC member which means that you have paid for parking lots, as well as other common areas, at all the DVC resorts. So as another DVC member I dont have a problem with you parking at any DVC resort you would like to park at for what ever reason for ever how long...you have paid for it.
To me its like pool hopping. Just because you are staying at all-star on this trip does that man that your pool hopping rights are cancelled for this vacation...no.

While CR, GF, and Poly are not DVC yet I dont think you should park ther, plus there are signs that state that guest parking lots are only for the Hotel not for the MK, unless you do Valet Parking. Disney doesnt care where you go after they hve your car. Last time was at GF the little piece of paper that the gate gives you was on my dash. The Valet removed it and said that I would not need that anymore since I was using their service.

.

You have to have a current DVC hotel key to pool hop!

Bobbi

Pool Hopping Information for 2006

You and any Guests staying with you at Disney's Old Key West Resort, Disney's BoardWalk Villas, The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Disney's Beach Club Villas or Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa are permitted to use other Disney Vacation Club and Walt Disney World Resort hotel pools (in addition to the pool at the Resort hotel at which you're staying) if they are not at capacity.

If the pool you are visiting reaches capacity, you may be asked to leave in order to accommodate Guests of that Resort hotel. Please check with a Host/Hostess at the Front Desk of the Resort hotel you wish to visit to find out about pool-access availability. You must present your current "Key to the World" card with your Disney Vacation Club "Member" designation on it to use other Resort hotel pools. Pool hopping is not available at Uzima Pool at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and Stormalong Bay at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts or at the leisure pools of these two Resort hotels. There are no exceptions to this policy.

Sorry, your DVC membership doesn't entitle you the freedom to do as you please. Unless you are a guest of that resort, you are not entitled to park at that resort in lieu of parking in the theme park parking lot. Unless you are part-taking of the facilities (and not pool hopping unless you are staying on points at a DVC resort), you should not park at that resort.

If it did, Orlando area members would be parking, pooling, etc all the time. Only a limited number of DVC perks are not tied to your reservation at at DVC resort. These might include the member perks for discounts and valet parking for free at the DVC resorts.

You may never park at a resort (other than the one you are staying at) to access a theme park, so the simple answer is no. What I would do is take a bus to AK, and then switch to a bus to WL if you want to take the boat. BTW, the bus service to and from All Stars is excellent in our experience and certainly no more crowded than any other resort because there is only one bus stop for each resort and when it is crowded each resort has their own buses.

I'm not sure this is a true statement. If I am staying at OKW and I wanted to eat at Flying Fish on the BW; after dinner lets say you take a stroll over to EPCOT you are saying that I ca't do that? I don't think so.

That's EXACTLY what I am saying. Reasonable or not, the resort parking lots are not to be used for access to theme parks unless you are staying at the resort. That said, I can understand the argument that the Boardwalk entertainment district is perhaps a special case. However, it is not fair to either the BWV or BWI guests or guests seeking to go to the Boardwalk entertainment district to use parking to go to Epcot regardless of where you started your journey.
