Parking question & 80's music discussion.

I was watching one of those VH1 specials and they called Bon Jovi "Heavy metal that smiles" Still makes me laugh.

I think they lumped any 80's hair band into "Hair Metal", not seeing they were more closely linked to the Glam rock of the 70's.

My fave new bands are Skillet and Red (Christian, but NOT worship!)

I still like a little Rob Zombie and Ozzy from time to time...

I LOVE bluegrass...Allison Krauss is my favorite in that genre.

Got burnt out on Country in the early 90's...can't stand it now. Charlie Daniels don't count!

Charlie Daniels and Hank Jr aint country...thats just beer gulpin music!!!

Bon Jovi is about as metal as Journey...Heavy Metal? More like lightweight Aluminum!!

Ive just started to like Zombie...since his movie directing...the guys just funny...I thought his music was like all satanic and stuff because it has that sound, but when ya listen to the words(if ya can uunderstand them) he is as sarcastic as anyone on this board.

Ozzy is much better in the music business than in TV....poor guy just let them make a real fool of him. Hard to look at him and not picture a "Drugs r'bad, mkay" public service announcement.

Bon Jovi? Heavy Metal? :confused3

I guess I'm with you on that one.

That reminds me that years ago I mentioned that I liked Jethro Tull to somebody and they said "you like that heavy metal stuff..?" :confused3

I totally agree (how's that for an 80's word to throw in) on Ozzy. The oldest son got to go back stage with 7 of his buds at last summer's Ozzfest. Long story, but one of his uncles knew a guy who knew a guy, and when they found that Justin postponed his cancer surgery to go to Ozzfest, well, they set him up with VIP passes for the whole day. He got to shake hands with Zack Wild, got some bootleg video of Ozzy singing Bark at the Moon on his cell phone. Pretty awesome for a guy to put on a whole tour for free.

I've learned to get past some of the imagery on the bands that he listens to, and in some cases it's a pretty good message. In other cases, well, let's hope the message doesn't sink in.

Oh yeah, Bon Jovi is not metal. But definately acceptable for listening to at the Fort - gotta keep on topic here:cool2:

I can tell a lot of us here are in our 40's:lmao: High school in the 70's and college in the 80's. I'm a huge 70's fan (including disco). DH and I had our first date at a Bee Gees concert and we had our honeymoon at a Guns 'n Roses Concert....talk about diversity in music!:rotfl:

This Momma graduated class of 1984. I prefer rock/pop/soul from late 70s/early 80s. I cry every time I hear Everclear's "AM Radio."

I like pop, I like soul, I like rock, but me I admit it. I also liked Disco. Come on!! What was cooler than seeing George Hamilton and Susan Saint James getting down on the dance floor to I Love the Nightlife in Love at First Bite ;)

I went to High School in FL and my best friend's family had season passes to Busch Gardens. They picked me one up to. Every other weekend, we'd be blaring Africa by Toto on our way to BG.

It was the Golden Age for MTV. In one hour you could see videos for Def Leppard, Duran Duran, Men at Work, Ozzy Ozbourne, the Police, Eddie Money, J. Giles Band... I WANT TO GO BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I remember MTV back when they showed music videos too! What a concept! (class of '88 here, can't believe i am going to the 20yr reunion this summer, argh!)

That's the truth! Everyday there is something else happening in a school somewhere. I say we all pull our kids out of school and homeschool, move to the fort, where we can start up a new attraction. "REMEMBER THE HITS DANCE PARTY" It's a hard ticket event, costumes and period gear optional.

I don't have any kids, but I would definitely come for this! :) I am another high school in the 70's college in the 80's. Can we get in the way back machine and visit?

Amen brother, did you see them on was it storytellers, or was it that cmt show, I can't remember the name... like unplugged, they put 2 diferent types of groups together.

Kid Rock has teamed up with some of the best musicians in the business....and made it work(Bocephus, beasties, and the kings of rock). I really like that boy. He was in our club just last month, being a regular guy....he was just sittin there, just wastin time, drinkin, smokin, tryin to free his mind (:)) Country + rap usually = crap, but not in his case, DAT BOY GOT MAD SKILLZ!!!(Do I sound young and hip using those words???)
