I am wondering how the annual parking pass works. Is it solely attached to an annual pass or is it something like a hang tag for the mirror? I already have my annual pass but will be getting them for my kids in December and want to get a parking pass. If I buy a parking pass attached to one of the kids ap's can I use it even if they aren't with me? Or can you just buy the pass outright?

It is attached to the AP. So the best thing to do would be to add it to your pass if you want to go without the kids.

So I couldn't just take my sons ap and use it even if he wasn't in the vehicle?

No, the person with the parking on their AP must be in the car.

Yes, add it to your pass rather than putting it on your son's - or maybe pay for both passes to have parking. They put a black 'P' on the back of your pass. I don't think it's too unreasonable. They just want to make sure that the person who paid for the parking to be included on their AP is in whatever vehicle is parking, and that each person with an AP has their own pass and parking 'P' with them. That makes sense. So I could go to DLR with anyone, in different cars each time, but as long as one of us has an AP with a 'P' on the back of it, then we can park in the M&F lot. If your son has that 'P' on the back of the AP then he can go with anyone else and get parking.

It keeps it from being transferable. Same reasons why the APs themselves aren't transferable. If it wasn't that way, then anyone could hand someone their AP and say - "Here - park for free on me!"

Since my husband and I both have PAPs, if we go with other folks, we'll split up and one of us will ride in their car to do the free parking for them.

For some it is kinda hard to figure out whose pass you should add parking to. I always put it on mine because the kids never go without me, but I will go without them. Now if you're kids will go without you (like with their dad), then you kinda have a dilemna.

This year I put the parking on my DD9's pass. I never go without her but sometimes my DSis will take her. And I'm not okay with paying $59 twice so we can both have parking. That covers 5 times of paying for parking.

I personally think parking should be free like it used to be... the price of admission should include a parking spot.
