Parking Pass for ADR at Resorts

We will be staying at Windsor Hills for our trip in May, but I've made an ADR for Ohana for our first night. Since we won't get there till afternoon, we won't be visiting any of the parks that day.

I know you can get a pass to park at the Polynesian while dining at Ohana...my question is for how long and how closely is the time enforced?

That night Wishes is scheduled for 10 p.m. I'm sure we will be finished with dinner by then and was wondering if we could watch the fireworks from the beach at the Poly? Since our dinner is earlier, if the pass is only for 3 hours (which I've read) then it would probably be expired before Wishes starts.

Is this a good plan? Is the beach a decent viewing area for the fireworks? Will our car turn into a pumpkin if we don't get our car moved before the pass expires?

I would valet park.
I've heard that if you valet...then you can stay there as long as you like.

Someone here will correct me if I'm wrong..

From past experiences, they probably won't do anything if you get there at night. By having a dinner reservation, you obviously won't be parking to spend the day at the MK. We have had dinner there and watched Wishes in the past without any problems.

We enjoy watching Wishes from the beach at the Poly. They generally pipe in the music so you can hear everything as well.

I think we will try this. At most we will be there for an hour extra (over the 3 hour pass.)

I debated about making the ADR for later in the evening so we could watch wishes from inside Ohana, but just didn't want to eat that late.

Standard parking passes at the resorts are 3 hours.

These passes are most tightly enforced at the monorail resorts, because A) they are very expensive Deluxe resorts where people pay lots of money and want to be able to park, and B) there are always folks who try to park at the monorail resorts all day to skip out on the $9 daily parking fee at MK, or to avoid the craziness of the MK lot.

I've parked at Polynesian as long as 4 hours for dinner and fireworks without being towed. I think they are a little less strict on the 3 hour limit when they're within 3 hours of MK closing. But I have seen cars being towed from the Poly lot as late as 2 hours before the park closes, so I wouldn't push it too much.

If you're just going to dinner and fireworks, tell the guard at the Poly gate that you're going to eat at 'Ohana and watch the fireworks, and hopefully he'll give you a parking pass that will cover the entire time.

The Poly beach has a great view of the fireworks, although a slightly better place might be the Overlook Point. It's not a better perspective, but it's darker over there, farther from the big lights of the GCH.
