What do you suggest for parking/shuttles as I am staying offsite for this weekend's marathon.

Some offsite hotels may offer a shuttle but I don't know that for sure. If you are driving yourself arrive early. Like 3 am early.

There was no Marathon this weekend!!! There was a 10-miler though.

My brother, a long time runner (vs my newbie runner status), tells me that people use the word marathon to mean any running event. Even a 5k. Only those who run the distances care about how long the event is.

My boyfriend the runner would completely disagree with this statement. As do I. Calling a 5k a marathon is just wrong.

Well, I didn't give my brother's *feelings* about it, so there's nothing to disagree with unless your boyfriend thinks that people do not ever use the wrong distance. :)

My brother gets annoyed about it, which isn't something I touched on in the other post. :) He also gets annoyed that when he wears his Marine Corps Marathon shirt people ask him if he was in the Marines. :upsidedow

People just don't think (marathon has a certain distance that isn't anything but 26.2 miles) or have reading comprehension (running in the MCM = being a Marine?) skills sometimes. :)

That seems a bit silly.

First of all, people may just be using it as a conversation opener, perhaps to thank him for his service.

Secondly, as a non-running civilian with no military background, how would I know that the Marine Corps Marathon is only for Marines, and not a public fund-raiser for a Marines-sponsored project, such as Toys 4 Tots?

The Marine Corp Marathon is open to the public. I expect there are more civilians then Marines actually running
