I usually fly out of Newark, NJ, but southwest has a very good rate not only to MCO, I tempted to try southwest, but not sure where I can park the car.

Where do people normally park when they fly out of Long Island? in addition to airport parking?
what are your experiences?

thanks

thanks for pointing out US Airways, I forgot them.
I was planning tickets for Las Vegas or Reno, therefore it makes quite a difference for 4 tickets.

I did a quick check on US Airways just now, their price seems to be quite good.

I have never left my car in airport parking lot, as I have heard horror stories and just don't want to take any chances.

You might try Jet Blue out of JFK. I haven't had a problem parking in the airport itself. If you windup flying out of ISP Enterprise, Holiday Inn and a new Hilton Garden Hotel have shuttles to the airport and MIGHT offer parking to non-customers.

seriously doubt it. Islip long-term parking is cheap and secure. I have left car there many times. We are talking small town airport.

having parked at islip numerous times, i have to say it's as safe as they come... i've never had any worries, i've driven by myself, arriving all times of day and night and again, never a proble... if you opt to fly out of islip, i think you will be pleasantly surprised by the parking :)

We leave our car there all the time. However, as a Town of Islip resident, I park in a different lot near the terminal. The only "problem" we ever had was during 9/11, our cars were towed from the lot they used to use as it was too close to the terminal. However, even with that we had no damage or problems.

I always park at Islip. Last Feb. we returned to a dead battery. Within half an hour, they came and jump started my car and I was on my way.

Another vote for Islip long term parking. Convenient, secure, never a problem.

my company owns property in islip town and for the last few years we have had a "resident" parking pass to put in our window... recently a co-worker (who has possession of the pass to lend out) told me that there is no longer a resident/business owner lot and we have to pay to park (i've done both when the pass was not available)... is that true? is that lot being/has been closed? what do you use to identify yourself as a town resident when you park in that lot?

thanks in advance...

The town probably wised up. In order to get the resident permit you have to mail a copy of your auto registration showing that YOU are a resident of Islip and then you get a sticker that must be affixed to THAT CAR. The pass was never available to "loan out".

Either your company was cheating or they had a program for companies that was discontinued.

Just pay for parking or have a friend drop you off at the airport.

it has "Town of Islip -- Business and Clergy" written right on it, and came w/instructions to park in the "resident" lot... so i guess they have stopped giving businesses that own property and pay town taxes a break on parking... bummer... i only had the chance to use it once or twice (for personal travel, the rest of the time was for business travel) and other times have paid for parking... it's still a bargain and a safe place to park and beats having to travel to the NYC airports!

Thank you all.
If I do fly out of Islip, probably I may give the airport parking a try. However , as Lewisc pointed out, it may be too far a drive from EWR.

Initially I thought it was not that far from EWR to JFK (2 hours) and it is not too far from JFK to Islip :) (you see my logic !!) hence I thought why not give Islip a try. But then I recalled the time it took me to go to Stony Brook when visited my nephew and it was about 3 hours. It won't be too easy if we were just came back from a vacation.

Stony Brook is a longer drive than the airport, it's further N and E. It's probably an hour from JFK to ISP. I think it would only make sense if you were flying on a free RR ticket otherwise I don't think the savings would be worth it. BTW the N/S flight to Vegas leaves at 7:00a. Maybe you'd be leaving before rush hour:D

gigi1313 Not sure about the business parking program.

Thank you very much for the info about parking at Islip. I will be parking my car there for a few days as my son and I will be taking a flight out to Chicago to check out colleges. I've never been to that airport and I actually will be driving from Drew Univ. in NJ to Islip to catch the flight. I'm really nervous about getting lost since I don't know the area. A friend suggested NJ turnpike to GW bridge to Cross-Bronx to Troggs Neck Br. to LIE. Does this sound doable on a weekday midafternoon? I'm probably leaving Drew around noon and my flight is 5:30. Thanks for the help...
