I wondering if this can be done, and if so, is it a worthwhile idea.

My DW and I plan to attend MGM one day while on vacation. We talked about going to EP during the evening to tour WS.

Can you take a boat from MGM to EP, rather than a bus? If any one has done this how long is the travel from MGM to EP, including stops at any of the relevant resorts?

As a clarification question, do I have set sail for YC, for instance, and switch boat lines, or does the same boat line stop at all the relevant resorts, EP and MGM?

Is this an efficient way to park hop or am I better off time-wise to take the bus? I thought it might be fun to take a boat ride some evening rather than wheels.

Hi and welcome to the DIS!

You can take a boat, or you can walk from the Studios to Epcot and vice versa. The boat stops at all the Epcot Resorts: Swan, Dolphin, Y&BC, and BW before arriving at Epcot. Walking would be faster unless the boat is ready to leave when you arrive. There's no need to change boats, just stay on board!

It's probably about a mile--give or take--from the front gate of the Studios to the International Gateway of Epcot.

I don't there is a bus between the Studios and Epcot.

Actually the Friendship boats make three stops between the Epcot International Gateway and the Disney Studios. Yacht/Beach clubs, Boardwalk, and Swan/Dolphin. The total ride is between 25-35 minutes. As noted, you can walk ususally in less time although the boat is a nice relaxing ride. From outside the Disney Studios the boat boards to the left. The walk from the entrance continues with the water on your left and the parking lot on your right. The water will always be on your left but you will be walking away from the parking lot. Once you walk past the overpass you will be on the outside boundary of the Boardwalk resort. Just keep walking. You can go left towards the Swan/Dolphin and then the Yacht and Beach clubs. Or you can continue around the Boardwalk past Spoodles and the ESPN club. Either way will get you to Epcot.
