Parking For MVMCP?

We have PS at WL before MVMCP and would like to leave the car there and travel over to MK by boat. Will we be allowed to do this? We are AP holders, so it's not the cost of parking, but it would be more convenient than moving the car around.
We are staying off-site at our vacation home.

BTW sorry if this is posted in the wrong place!

IMHO, it's not fair to the guests staying at WL.

We stayed at the Contemporary last December and couldn't find a parking space more than once. We actually saw people park and walk over to MK with their Santa hats on.

That being said, I believe they issue 3 hour passes if you are eating at a resort or want to visit the resort.

If I dine at WL I expect to park at WL! This site promotes the Restaurants at many of the Resorts and I probably wouldn't have booked this meal otherwise! If I have a time limit on my parking, then so be it, but I was just asking in advance so I know that I have allowed enough time to eat, take a look around the resort, retrieve the car, drive to MK, park the car again and catch the ferry to MK in time for the show. There are five of including two children so it's not going to be that easy!
Surely though if there's not enough parking for both guests staying and dining at a resort this is down to Disney NOT the diners!

I agree with your comment on those people who park at the resort only to walk over to Disney but I can assure you this is not our intention. We have actually made reservations to stay at WL that night, but I'm not sure whether we will be able to do this as we have extra family members visiting us at the house that week. (Although I'm tempted to go ahead and do it anyway!)

You may want to check with WL to see if the ferry will be running for MVMCP. There have been some posts that have suggested that in previous years it was not. If you end up taking the bus to and from the party, it will probably be more convenient to move your car. Enjoy your trip!

Thanks Carol, i will call Disney to check. We are so excited about MVMCP - this is our first time despite having been at Disney three times before over the Holidays! Better late than never............

Joym,

Please re-read your first post.

You DID state that you were planning to park at the Wilderness Lodge then take the boat over to the MK for the Christmas Party. I[m sure that's why beattyfamily made the comment she did--she was responding to the part about leaving the car and going to the MK.

You can certainly park at WL for dining purposes, but to leave your car there while you go to the park is not fair to the people who are paying to STAY at the resort. Of course, should you choose to use your reservation, the whole parking issue becomes a moot point.

You're right, it is up to Disney to enforce the parking--that's probably why they now have a three hour limit (and it seems as if they are enforcing it by towing cars!).

When I asked the original question I didn't dream that anyone would be so cynical as to examine the exact wording of my post! Of course I mean to eat at the resort or else I wouldn't have made PS arrangements! The comment made by beattyfamily refers to people parking and walking straight over to the Park which doesn't apply to me at all. We are going to the WL to dine and take a look at the lobby tree which I have heard so much about on this board, although technically you could say that this is isn't fair on the guests at the resort either! I though that this would get everyone into the spirit of things before the Party. I really don't know how little or much parking there is at the Resort (although I'm certainly getting the impression that there's not enough), and I just want to make sure we have allowed enough time to get to the MK.

I live 4500 miles from WDW, and I consider this board to be an excellent source of information to plan my trips. Maybe some of you veterans should have a slightly more friendly attitude towards newcomers. If I didn't care about what is right or wrong, I wouldn't have asked in the first place, I would have just gone ahead and done it!

Let me defend myself, please.

First off, you can't 'hear' my tone of voice over the Internet which can sometimes cause people to get defensive and think you are "yelling" at them. I certainly wasn't yelling or insulting anyone. I started by stating it was "my humble opinion" based on what I encountered on my last trip.

I was replying to your question:

We have PS at WL before MVMCP and would like to leave the car there and travel over to MK by boat. Will we be allowed to do this?

I took it as your wanting to drive there, eat there, leave your car there and take the boat over to MVMCP for the night. I also believe I answered your question. I told you about the 3 hour pass and then I proceeded to give your my opinion on doing this. I said it as nicely as I could.

I didn't realize at all that I was being "cynical". That was not my intent. I just wanted to answer your question and give my opinion on it, and I assure you I wasn't "examining" your post that carefully. I just answered your question.

My post was for anyone who drives to a resort and wishes to dine, or shop, or visit it and THEN proceed to walk, take a boat, or the monorail, or a bus to a park nearby. I was giving you one example and it happened to be walking over to MK.

I know people do it all the time, but that doesn't mean it's alright. That is why they now issue 3 hour passes.

I'm very glad you decided to post here and ask if it was alright. That is exactly why I replied with my opinion!

I hope you have a great time no matter what you decide to do. Didn't mean to get you so upset. You are absolutely right when you say they need MORE parking at some resorts!
