We are thinking about renting a car during our second week of our trip. Are we required to pay parking while staying at our resort? This is only our second trip home and our first time to rent a vehicle. Thanks for the help and "Merry Christmas".

There is no fee to park at the DVC resorts, and with your Blue membership card, valet parking is also free at DVC resorts (not regular Disney resorts), remember to tip the valet. OKW and SSR do not offer valet parking, VWL, BCV, BWV and AKV have valet.

Theme Park parking is also free for all onsite WDW guests, including DVC guests.

I am a DVC member but will be staying with family offsite for a week in January. Can I park for free at the theme parks?
Thanks,
Tony

in a word, no. the only way to get free parking at the parks is to be an annual passholder or a WDW resort hotel/DVC guest staying on property.

I know there's no fee for parking in the regular lots, but I'm still not clear on the free valet parking issue - I've seen it explained both ways on DISboards, but whenever I ask a CM at MS, they always give me scenario #1:

scenario #1: When staying on WDW property on points, valet parking is only free at the ONE location where you are staying (AKV, BCV, BWV, or VWL) but not the other three; if you're staying at OKW or SSR, you don't get free valet parking at any of the four locations that have it.

scenario #2: When staying on WDW property on points at any Villa location, valet parking is free at all four that have valet parking.

the Disney documentation that I've seen so far doesn't specify it clearly. does anyone have a definitive answer ?

All I know is that #2 has worked for me. They just see that I have my blue DVC card, as well as any resort parking flyer in my window, and I've gotten free Valet.

Last May we stayed at OKW and valet parked for free at the BWV when we went over to eat at ESPN. We have also valet parked for free at VWL when staying at the BWV.

I have never heard it described as scenario 1. Its a general membership perk, its not a reservation perk or a resort perk or a stay on points perk so it has nothing to do with where you are staying or when you are staying or how you are staying

thats always been the explanation given tome and thats always how it has worked for us

Remember, too, that DVC free valet parking is so that you can visit the resorts and not the theme parks. DVC even states this on the member website.

I looked for the DVC/valet resort parking info on the Member website, but can't find anything on it. Do you know where it is?

DVC members receive a publication called "Vacation Magic" on a quarterly basis from the Disney Vacation Club, a Walt Disney company. In the Spring 2007 issue on page 27 it states: "Park freely (at select Resorts): While valet parking charges at Walt Disney World Resort hotels have changed to $10 a day, remember that Disney Vacation Club Members receive complimentary valet parking at select Resorts, including Disney's Beach Club Resort, Disney's Boardwalk Resort and Disney's Wilderness Lodge. (Please note, however, that parking for the purposes of visiting a Theme Park isn't permitted at any Walt Disney World Resort hotel.) Beginning July 2, Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge will become the latest Disney Vacation Club Resort to offer Members this complimentary service."

thanks for the info. we're new members so we haven't received Vacation Magic yet, but I was able to download them and found it in the Summer 2007 issue, and even more specifically in the Summer 2006 issue. It says "...you don't have to be staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel to enjoy this perk..." :)
