So the night we drive into Orlando, we have ADR's at Chef Mickeys at 5:30. We already will be pushing it to get there by 5:30. My question is if we park at the contemporary for dinner, are we able to go over to MK for the remaining 3 hours the park is open?? Customer service said that would be ok since we had ressies... I thought we were there one other time, and the pass the guard shack gave us to park had like a time limit since it was only a lunch reservation??? Maybe I'm remembering wrong or something else??

Not looking for a suggestion to park at the transportation center. Frankly after a 10+ hour drive, I can't waste the extra time to do that.

They may or may not give you a 3 hour pass from the time you get there. Chances are late in the day they may not, especially if it's not a busy time. When are you going?

You can not use the self parking spots and then go off the Magic Kingdom because it's not fair to the guests staying there, however it seems that you are allowed to valet park and later on go off to the Magic Kingdom after your meal at Chef Mickey's. Although on a Saturday night I would say there is a very god chance of getting a 3 hour parking pass even if you were to valet park, so all I can say due what you think is right.

You need to due (sic) what is right, that is, drive in no more than a little before your restaurant reservation and/or time you want to spend shopping in and touring that resort, and drive out when you are done dining and looking at decorations, animals, etc. at that resort.

Ask at the gate. Chances are it won't be a problem.

The last times we were there they did not give us parking passes at all. Our cars were not towed and all was well with the world.

Chances are much more prevalent around the holidays, as people are resort hopping to see the decorations.

I have seen more than one car get towed at POR, because people come over to "see the decorations" and then hop on the water taxi to go to DTD for several hours.

Since you can't arrive at the TTC early enough to allow parking there in time for your reservation, CR Resort Fan's suggestion appears the most reasonable - use the Contemporary's Valet Parking

we must look like shady charactarspopcorn::, we stayed @ BLT in October and had our ID checked every single time we passed through the guard house area. Nice by-product imo was the ambundance of near-by self parking spaces:cool1:

Suggest you should depart earlier then:confused3to avoid a stressful start to your trip. There's a whole lotta line waiting at WDW, we're all in it together. Better to start the trip off with reasonable expectations so any kids in your family understand the disney drill:)

enjoy your trip

Valet park. I'm assuming that you are starting your drive as soon as safely possible due to work or school obligations, so it should be worth the $14 to you to have the convenience.

Wow - we stayed there for 5 days last month and never even put the parking permit in our car - guess we were lucky.

Yeah, I think we'll valet. I appreciate the suggestion, I didn't know that was available.

Are you sure you were at WDW. I read over and over again, even on this thread, that they tow cars if they violate the 3 hour parking permit that is given to everyone.

In the number of trips I've gone with a rental car, I've gotten a 3 hour parking pass exactly one time, at the Grand Floridian for breakfast.

They just don't care as much during non-busy times as long as you're staying on site and have your resort's pass in the window (Though I did park at a resort once on a day we happened to be off-site, and they didn't care then, either.)

OP, I'd ask the guard at the gate, they will give you the most accurate information.

Wow, or someone may have had a crush on you too:rotfl:

My experience is they don't give the 3 hour parking permit to everyone at all times. I parked at the Polynesian on 10/29 and was not given a 3 hour permit, they just checked ID. The last time I had dinner at the Contemporary (summer 2009), they did not give us a 3 hour permit. Both times I had a WDW resort parking permit so they knew I wasn't avoiding the parking fee.

Rabble rouser!!!!

Really...this is why we continually tell people not to cut their time too closely. Be sure to leave enough time to arrive, get settled, then drive/bus to your ADR spot, and relax a bit.
But, it is probably way too late to change your ADR time. So, here's my way of thinking.....
Can you park at a monorial (or Epcot) resort to eat and then head to a park without worrying about your car?? Probably. But there is signage that states that parking is not provided for park access. That seems clear enough to me. I fully realize that many, many people say you can self park at these resorts with no issues at all. So..if you decide to self park, please be considerate and park in a distant parking space. Please leave the more desirable parking spots for those who are paying top dollar to stay at that resort. There is nothing more frustrating than returning to your resort, at park closing, only to find a ton of cars parked there, so there is no decent spot for your car. This happens all the time at BW....people drive over there, park in guest parking, then head to Epcot, watch the fireworks and then amble on back to get their cars. There is always a big line of cars departing the guest parking lot about 9:45...highly doubt they are all resort guests heading out for a late night snack.

As already mentioned, the best idea is to pay to valet park. That way you can do whatever you want to do, without impacting others ability to find a parking spot.
