Parking at The Contemporary / Bay Lake

I'm pretty sure the brochure they sent out showed had parking underneath like at kidani. Did that change?

These pages look like it to me but I haven't looked in person.

The past few times my family and I have stayed at the Contemporary and when I was looking at the construction of Bay Lake Tower they were not building an underground parking garage.

I can see why you might think that but I believe that is the main entrance to the building.

I'm not understanding why people find parking at the TTC so inconvenient. Why take up a parking space people staying at a resort need just so you can walk to the MK? :confused3

hey understand the attraction - believe me that is why brought BLT.

if you have ever stood in line at the MK just getting out of the park - it can be 2 hours later before you are in your car at TTC - it can be an hour later before you arrive at your dvc resort taking the WDW transportation.

so being able to walk to your car or room (yea BLT) is a big benefit.

same reason that parking at BWV and BCV are popular - especially during the food/wine festavial and the reason why both resorts at those times - only allow their guests in their parking lot.

blt will probably do the same but more often.

thanks for the pictures.

so far DVC only has underground parking when their might be flooding - both VB and AKV so far - are the only ones.

both AKL and the All stars can flood - that is the why the room at AKl/akV start on the second floor.

also it protects the animals.

I thought AKL/AKV start on the second or third floor so the animals don't try to enter the rooms and they don't have to block the view for those rooms keeping the animals away.

Parking at The Contemporary / Bay Lake
--------------------------------------------------------------------------As a DVC member I see that members can park at all Theme parks and DVC Resorts for free. However Bay Lake I think is off the list. Has any one stayed at a DVC resort other than The Contempory and then was able to park at The Contemporary for free. Obvioulsy, this is helpful for the 'after the fireworks' drive home......

I am trying to figure out if the OP was tryng to stir the pot so to speak (3 years, 30 posts?) and hit a nerve in others or if they were attempting to shine a light on a potential future issue. I have to assume it is obvious that you can not park at a CT or BLT when going to MK because its more "helpful" to you. Either way, I think they got the reactions they were looking for from the majority of posters clearly stating this CAN NOT and SHOULD NOT be done.

The OP (me) just bought into BLT so I thought I would inquire. No hidden agenda. Thought I would inquire.....hope that is ok.

paritally - but the resort is in the lower part - so it is for flooding too.

they learned that with the all stars.

I apologize if no hidden agenda were the root. It just seemed as though that may have been the case as I assumed (and the old saying comes true once again a$$ out of u and m) if you had been on the disboards for 3 years you would have known having seen like threads in the past: people parking at BW to go to Epcot (major controversies a while back) and similar situations.

It is certainly ok to inquire (and debate, argue, agree, etc) as thats what the this place is for. How boring would life be if we all agreed and knew everything? Again, my apologies to the OP. And Welcome Home !!!

Thanks Boston - - eager to try out my home resort and while I have been out here for a few years have not seen what seems to be a common thread or situation. Looks like I got it going again though :goodvibes

Even if you own there, you shouldn't park there to go to the MK unless you are staying there.

Exactly. You have no rights at your home resort UNLESS you are staying there. Some newer members think they have the right to swim at their home resort if they are not staying there. That's only okay if it is one of the resorts that it is okay to pool hop to, pool hopping isn't blacked out and the member is staying on points at a DVC resort at WDW.

I think it takes every new member a little bit of time to find out all the rules. Some of us who bought in a long time ago, only had two resorts to worry about at WDW - OKW and BWV. You newer members have a whole bunch of places to learn about.

If no one has told you, Welcome Home and enjoy your stay.

We feel the same way, that's why we bought BLT. We understand we'll have to wait for the monorail from Epcot, but riding one of our favorite rides (monorail) to get back to our resort is a dream come true.
We rarely close DHS and have never closed AK, so we get to avoid the park closing long bus lines.

Funny how when you read something, you might take it one way & it wasn't what you thought. I will admit when I read your post, I thought you meant you would be staying at another DVC & just wanted to park at CR/BLT for easy access to MK. Sorry for misunderstanding and Welcome Home neighbor!
I can say that when I have gone to CR, the security guard always asked me what I would be doing there.

OK, then, it looks like when I win the lottery I am moving into kidani instead of blt for the easier parking for my ferrari.

Now I'm all confused. It sounds like they built BLT w/o any additional parking??? That can't be right--or can it??
And if you drove to WDW and stayed at BLT you would need to park on the normal Contemporary lot???

BLT is on the old footprint of the garden wing, so it's all one big Contemporary lot which BLT would get to share since some of that parking was added when the wings were added if I remember correctly. I'm surprised they didn't extend the lot somehow or add under tower parking. Looking on the map there is a huge wooded area to the north of the Contemporary and to the east of Space Mountain. I'm trying to find some good aerial views to compare the old parking to the new parking and I'm not having much luck with the new but here's the old config. You can see the tennis courts and the start of the wooded area and some other maint. type buildings.

Riding the monorail from Epcot is a breeze, and way more interesting than riding a bus. You have a quick changeover at the TTC, but that's no biggie.

That is correct although from what I have seen in person I think more parking spaces in front of Bay Lake Tower will become available up after it opens, because right now that huge wall for the construction has taken up a lot of parking spaces in that area. Also I found out that the Contemporary has taken 2 or 3 rows of their valet parking spots and turned them into more self parking spaces for guests staying there.
As for that those parking splaces right next to Space Mountain I believe those are spaces for the Cast Members who work there, so they are not for anyone staying at the Contemporary/Bay Lake Tower or those going to the Contemporary because they have an ADR.
